A sausage roll is much better drunk-food than a meat pie. It's something about the carbs-to-fat ratio.

Also, the fact that if you eat a meat pie while drunk you'll burn your tongue on the gravy and then spill it down your shirt.

Kebabs, however, remain the number one food for drunks in Australia.

Most alcohol consumed here is during mealtime so being hungry under the influence doesn't happen.

When living in Glasgow (not that I ever got drunk) after closing time I used to enjoy a small portion of Chow Mein with Fried Rice and Curry sauce.

The first time I was in the Madison shop took me quite a while to process that the drawings of UW hockey players had burritos for heads.

Chips (fries) cheese and baked beans from a student's union - often microwaved to melt the cheese (and the side effect is some of they styrofoam also melts) in the UK

Chips (fries) in a naan bread smothered with ketchup and mayo (aka when everyone else gets doner kebabs this is what I have!) - also in the UK

A curry in one of the curry houses that is open at 4am in Birmingham, UK - veggie rogan josh, naan and poppdums!

Quite stale, but containing the essential carbs, egg mayo sandwiches from the petrol station / 24 hour tescos also in the UK- you know you are up way past your bedtime when the doner shop is already shut!

Chips (fries) slathered in mayo - Germany

In terms of hangover food, at home a glass of OJ down in one (stops the shakes!) and then breakfast with a large carb quota (beans on toast with quorn sausages was a favourite). If heading out to do something insanely silly like ride the horses, hash browns, OJ and a diet coke from McDonalds (as everyone else had bacon and egg sandwiches) eaten in the horse box (which then stank of bacon and eggs for the entire day, not a good smell!)

Although, at our local Denny's, they seem to always be out of some ingredient.

Sort of along the line of food, every time I hear someone speak of Doner kebabs, it reminds me of the Donner Party.

Good thing most of the late night customers are too drunk to notice.
