That's a pretty good place, but my favorite burger place in Austin is Hut's. I also would give third place to Hill-Bert's. Fran's comes in a close 4th.
The prerequisites:
A "Flattop"
1/4 to 1/3 lb. patty, squashed thin, not pre-made, but from a ball of fresh ground, no more than 87% lean, preferably composed with a little of the remains of an old bull or dairy cow, some charring outside, salt & pepper are the only required seasonings, and some of the "trade names' overpower the beef.
"Store-bought" bun, toasted atop the Flattop to gain a bit of greasy essence.
Chopped onion, best "red", and best of all topping the patty when it's flipped.
Sliced Dill (or Sour) pickles
Tomato, ripe, sliced, best of all several thin ones.
Iceberg lettuce, chopped
Yellow Mustard, but Zatarain's Creole variety elevates the product.
Mayo, in the South, never "Salad Dressing", optional
For the brave and strong, a few slices of grilled fresh jalapeno are the frosting on the cake.
Of the modern, mass-retailer examples, 5 Guys will do, when there's no time to explore or seek advice from local "authorities".

Travel + Leisure - America's Best Burger Cities 2012
I know we each have our favorites across America...
For local burgers, my favorite is Rhea's in Roswell, GA. WRT chains, it's In-N-Out.

Can anyone name a good burger place there?

Last day, I tried Ray's Hell burger at Wilson Blvd, Arlington and it was fantastic. The burgers are juicy, packed with flavor and everything on the menu wasn't expensive. The staff is efficient and performs well in rush times.

why are "best of" lists always horrible, completely wrong and seemingly always written by some jerk who gives the distinct impression that they've never been to any of the places they write about?

Best burger in the world
Instead of How I Met Your Mother's search for the best burger in New York, I want to know where to find the best burger in the world according to the Flyertalk community.
To kick-off this topic, the best burger I had so far: The M-Burger in Chicago http://www.mburgerchicago.com/
Very tasteful and contains bacon, cheese and a secret M-Burger sauce sold at 4 locations across the city.
On their facebook-page they also publish a monthly secret menu with a pumpkin-shake on it right now.
So, what's your favorite burger in the world?

In Philly we have lots of great burger options which makes it tough to find others I like out of town-500 is my go to burger joint and then if fancy, go for Kobe sliders at Barclay Prime.

Kumas corner in Chicago! Get there early...and enjoy a cool atmosphere and one of the best burgers ever. Pretzel buns, great fries and some pretty funky topping combos.
I'm heading to ATL next week so will try out Ann's...Ghetto Burger sounds right up my alley.
