I had a steak and ale pie with Dauphinoise potatoes and petit pois tonight which genuinely was better than any sex I've ever had in my entire life.^

Rainy, cool spring day. Pie weather. Steak and mushroom with a liberal topping of tomato sauce.

The pie has gone through a rebirth in the last few years after being derided for a while as nothing more than petrol station food. So many great bakeries are doing awesome pies, and sausage rolls. Rats' coffins these pies are not.

Mrs Clint Bint is keen for me to lose a few pounds so informed me that dinner tonight is tinned tuna steak, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, spring onions and red peppers.

It's a times like this I'm glad I invested in a fridge for my man cave.

Extra mature cheddar.... (drools Homer-style)

Sounds good but I'd add some carbs to it.

(bolding mine) A must when having mussels

Last night (home Chicago) was lamb shanks in a curry & coconut milk gravy. Leftovers will be lunch today.

I arrived home from the pub tonight looking forward to some tasty vittles.
There,on a plate,was a couple of slices of thick ham,some mashed potatoes,cabbage and swede.
To be frank it didn't entice me.Not one bit.In fact a tuna mayo white bread sandwich but hold the mayo would have been more enticing.
With Mrs Clint Bint in another room watching TV I improvised.
Frying pan on,everything but the ham mashed together with garlic powder, chilli flakes and lots of ground pepper fried in oil till a golden brown.
Then two eggs and the ham fried together with some sliced mushrooms and tomatoes.
All this served up on two thick doorstep slices of toasted sourdough bread and a liberal helping of Heinz tomato sauce.
Now that was the sucker a man wants to eat after returning home from the pub on a Friday night.
" How was my dinner, darling " cooed Mrs Clint Bint sometime later.
" Absolutely magnificent " I lied.
Only myself and the dog and of course you will ever know.

Herself is out at the flicks with her sisters so the coast is clear for an old-fashioned Saturday night.
Beer,football,curry.

Which brings us on nicely to tonight's dinner.
We swerved the unhealthy curry and instead went for two really big,fat slices of sourdough bread infused with olive oil and salt and peppered to within an inch of their lives then toasted under a hot grill for a minute or two and then mashed potato added to be grilled some more then cheese, tomato, spring onions and sliced chorizo grilled a bit more then a whole bag of rocket thrown over the top and drizzled some more with olive oil and balsamic vinegar then attacked with one hand while the other was guzzling a 10-year-old Rioja.
Even though I say so myself tonight's dinner was boss.

Haven't posted here with something from home in some time, so here's the latest:

Poached Cod with a Ravigote Sauce, Mashed Purple Potatoes, and Charred Leek

Perfect to decompress after handling my first-ever birdstrike today...
