Singapore food

Local hawker food from Singapore. Breakfast. Economical noodles, with fried egg, luncheon meat, fried tofu. Cost for this was $2.80 SGD.

For lunch, I had a chicken rice set in an air-conditioned food court. Cost was $5 SGD.

Had the leftovers today for lunch. I reheated in the oven and the crust was black - but still does not taste burnt. Heavenly. (That said, Malnati's is still my favorite deep dish in Chicago, but this is still very good, but quite a different flavor - sauce v. actual tomatoes.)

^ True dat on both Malnati's and Pequod's. While I love most kinds of pizza, especially cracker-crust, regular thin (Malnati's makes a good thin-crust), and (as fellow Chicagoan) deep dish, it seems to me the thick pan pizzas like Pequod's and deep dishes like Malnati's are the easiest leftovers to reheat.

Invited to an outside birthday party, two lambs on grills, potato gratin, red zin and IPA flowing freely.

Lots of garlic, both on the lambs and in the gratins, so propably protected against vampires for a week

Daytrip to Rio taking advantage of the visa-free period for US citizens. Went to Carretao Churrascaria for our one meal in the city and enjoyed unlimited amounts of some truly great steaks, sausages, pork, chicken, and a massive salad bar. Beat the hell out of Fogo de Chao or any similar US spot (I know there are FdC's in Brazil, yes). Steak was consistently medium-rare to medium and piping hot. Highly recommended if you're hanging around the Copacabana area.

Grilled chipotle marinated salmon, with woked veggies (garlic, red onions, fennel, spring onions and beetroots) and a red kidney beans and lentil stir-up with garlic salsa and red thai curry paste. Washed down with Face to Black Imerial Porter
