recommendations for sauces at US markets (e.g. spicy asian)
any and all are welcome - cook, stir fry, marinade, anything (not just asian/spicy asian)
might include whether available in mainstream stores or only ethnic
if expensive, please share thoughts on how good it is, especially comparatively
can include suggestions re combinations/recipes or not
OR - things / brands to avoid
thanks!

My favourite Indian spices mix if I am in a position where I am unable to make my own is Patak's. For Singaporean sauces I like Prima Taste, specifically the kits where the coconut flakes, coconut milk and other toppings are individually packaged to be added at the right moment. Amazon had them for a short while. Now the boil-a-bag version seems to be the most common but it's not as good. As for Chinese sauces, the the most widely used brand is Lee Kum Kee from Hong Kong. I find that their sauces are very good and authentic but tend to fall on the sweeter side per Hong Kong taste.

We use JES products frequently as marinades, particularly their teriyaki and spicy teriyaki varieties.
We find them at our local Asian chain grocery stores (Ranch 99, Island Pacific, Seafood City, etc.)and they run about $3/bottle.
Here's a link with a pic of what to look for:

This stuff is literally the only Asian chili sauce I ever use because it's that good. Don't be fooled by their imitations. Give it a try, you can usually find it at any Asian market or in any areas in the US with a high-density of Asian people:

My go-to:
http://www.amazon.com/Lao-Gan-Chili-.../dp/B0051D84JU
For some reason I can't seem to find a label printed in english (mostly because they really aren't aside from the ingredients/nutrition info). Available at any good asian mart, but probably not in american grocery stores
