Diners Club International tie with Mastercard ends 1 October

This is from the Diners Club UK website:

Beginning October 2009, card acceptance of Diners Club cards in the US will start to expand into the Discover Network. The Mastercard acceptance network will no longer be provided after October 1st, 2009.

For these reasons, all new cards and card renewals will show the logos of PULSE and Discover Network on the back of the card.

Does this mean that if a vendor does not accept Discover, then they will not accept the Diners Club card?

IMO, you will only be able to use your diners club card at Discover network only in the US once the full conversion is completed.

Note that this does not apply to Diners Club Mastercards issued by Citi in North America. This only changes the card acceptance in North America of cards issued elsewhere.

Does anyone know how long the conversion process will take? It would be good to have an official statement from Diners Club.
