What is En Route? Another name for DC?

I was in Canada, and saw that DC is accepted at many places . . . as En Route/Diners Club. I wonder if En Route was another card like Carte Blanche that got mergered with DC. Any info?

I think the EnRoute was a card introduced by Air Canada or something a long time ago, and got merged with DC in Canada (only). So, for practical purposes, EnRoute is simply DC. Eh?

Enroute was a CC owned by AC. AC sold to DC and DC co-branded their card as Diners/EnRoute. However, Diners dropped the EnRoute co-branding several years ago. Thus, older merchant signs include EnRoute.
