I have always been a big Diners Club fan, but I can't figure out what advantage it retains at this point.
I preferred it to Amex because of the airline flexibility, but now Starwood Optima gives you the same type of flexibility and gives a 5000 mile bonus for each 20,000 miles transferred.
I preferred it to my Aadvantage Visa because I could store miles without having them expire, but AA's recent changes make this irrelevant.
And it's accepted so many fewer places than Amex and Visa.
They'd better do something quick to make themselves stand out or they're going to lose a lot of business . . .
What Diners COULD do to make itself more attractive would be to rescind the recent increase in foreign exchange fees. I have stopped using Diners for foreign charges, and since its nearly useless in the US I plan not to renew when the time comes.

Personally I like the fact that they offer PRIMARY Rental Car Coverage - all other credit cards are secondary, meaning your personal car insurance pays first and they only cover things above and beyond.
I also like having 2 statment periods to pay without penalty.
Dont' forget the LeCard Savings...for me this pays for the annual fee. Also, OUTSTANDING customer service, which none of the other cards can come close to.
DC along with AmEx is charge card but Startwood Optima and all Optima AmEx cards are credit cards hence the credit limit. The grace period is 25 days if I recall correctly. Lastly, the conversion fee is same as DC.
Only DC feature I like is the primary rental car coverage but I don't rent enough (personal) to justifiy the cost. My business rental is at negotiated rate which includes all insurance. BTW DC offer pretty good sign up bonus for sure.
