There are some folks that will be caught out, but this seems a reasonable response to DL's need for the FF program to actually reward, you know, spending with DL.
If you buy an AF ticket JFK-CDG you won't get MQD. However, DL will still get a slice of the pie as revenue and profits are shared in the TATL JV.
Don't miss the wholesale overhaul of MQM earning on SkyTeam partners. In short, if you're flying an Asian carrier in anything but F/J, don't expect full MQMs. Even in full fare Y, it's not 100% MQM.
What's interesting is, all of the sudden, there's two classes of Delta partners. JV (AF, KL, AZ) and business partners (Alaska, Gol, Aeromexico), and then there's the other SkyTeam partners. Maybe one day they'll let us accrue MQDs on those carriers too.
If you have a U.S. Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express you will have the new MQDs requirement waived each year you make $25,000 in eligible purchases using your card.
Holy crap! Has anyone looked at the MQM earning rates for partner airlines? There are substantial reductions especially with Asian partners. Down to 50% on KE econ classes and only 100% in biz.
"Medallion level earning to focus on providing high value customers an even more exclusive SkyMiles Medallion program experience"
Jeff Robertson is quoted: "Adding a revenue component to the SkyMiles Medallion program ensures that our most valued customers receive the best program benefits and a more exclusive experience."
Back when I first earned medallion status in the late '90s certain fare codes were not upgrade eligible (LUT IIRC). In other words, there was a revenue component - an incentive to spend more money if you wanted to 'receive the best program benefits.' Today, a GM or above on an award ticket can be upgraded...not so exclusive any more.

If you don't fly on a DL 006 ticket with DL flight numbers, you get hosed.
No MQD on partner tickets, and severely slashed MQM on almost all partners as well. Just wait until pax start realizing that their EU trips that got re-ticketed into 074 screw them over.

Even full-fare business on CZ doesn't earn 100% MQM on the new chart. On KE you need full fare J to get 100% MQM. Discounted biz is 75%.
Also, what's up with excluding earning on ST-coded flights operated by SV? Every page I've looked at (outside of SV, of course) says that accrual is not allowed on flights operated by SV.
