Why no meal?

Flying Mco-msp tomorrow. The flight is 1300 miles and is 3:55-6:30 (so, in a meal window) but the iron doesn't list a meal and I was not able to order a special meal. PL line didn't have an explanation. Before I buy a sandwich, any thoughts on if this is a computer glitch and meals will magically appear?

Are you in FC? IIRC for flights under 1500 miles, meal are served if the flight is scheduled to depart 6 - 10 am for breakfast, 10 am - 2 pm for lunch, and 4 - 8 pm for dinner, so 3:55 just misses dinner despite the arrival time. I know this has been posted here at some point, probably not too long after the merger.

This is outside of the meal window.

Flights under 1500 miles don't get dinner until a 4:00 departure.

Lunch stops at 1:30 under 1500 miles.

Yes I'm in FC. Guess I've never taken a flight that seems to so clearly be during a meal time that didn't have a meal. No wonder we were upgraded at 72 hours even though my companion has no status. I can make do with some cheese and olives from the SC but companion ran the WDW marathon today so he need a meal. We will buy something for him. Thanks for the confirmation

Hmm I was on DL951 (JFK-ATL) last night and we were offered meals in the FC cabin.
Just wondering if there are any other known exceptions to the domestic FC dinning policies.

JFK/LGA-ORD gets meals despite being below the minimum length.

There are a few others (but only a few). All depends on the markets served.

Makes me wonder how many flights are scheduled to leave at 3:55 PM and 8:05 PM.

What gets to me are the east-to-west transcons (or nearly transcons) where you miss the meal based upon a few minutes departure time, and then it is well beyond local meal time when you arrive.

In N Out burger is open til 1 or 1:30am, so west coast meal time can go quite late

EWR/LGA/JFK-ATL and LGA/JFK-ORD are the current exceptions. DFW-ATL/MSP no longer gets a meal.

Back in the days when one might get a meal in F on flights of 600-700 miles (I guess we're talking the 80s), it always seemed NW made sure their evening flights ex-DTW to the northeast and the corresponding return flights left just before or just after the meal window. I was shocked once on a trip to NYC in '89 when I switched my return from NW ex-LGA to CO ex-EWR and discovered CO actually served quite a nice dinner (with choice of entree!) EWR-DTW.
