I am looking to go to Italy in May. From my browsing of Kayak, it seems like Delta has the best Italy service from JFK...especially since I am looking to go to Venice and depart from Rome.
For non-stop flights, business class, it's 325k per person. Is this the normal price or should I wait?
Don't want to waste valuable points, but it seems like only Delta flies these routes non-stop.
I guess timing is everything. I booked SAT > FCO 5/08 thru 5/25 for 100K each for my wife and myself. Granted I'm not doing open jaw and we were very flexible with dates. Alitalia flies non stop to Rome but I haven't seen availability on our dates and I have seat alerts set on EF. Good Luck, I hope you find some availability.

This is "High" redemption level. I think most here would tell you not to waste so many miles unless that's your only option.
Keep in mind that theoretically, as long as there are seats available, you can use miles to book. My point here is that there is NO advantage to booking early at the High level, unless you are worried the flight will sell out.

Nonstop, RT, open jaw, etc. shouldn't affect the number of DL miles the trip costs. It's all a matter of finding "low" inventory on flights and dates you can use.

KVS seems to think that there should be 2+ seats in business on the following routes
5/14 JFK-CDG-VCE
AF23 + AF 1126/1426/1726
AF17 + AF 1426/1726/1226
AF11 + AF 1726/1226/1526
AF9 + AF 1526/1326
5/27 VCE-CDG-JFK
AF1327 + AF 12/6
Should price out at 100K per ticket + minimal taxes/fees. I'll take half of the difference between this and what you posted as a finder's fee
Nope! You're doing the wrong KVS search . AF has opened up a new Classic level that's slightly higher and requires AF miles.
ExpertFlyer has the true inventory. On KVS, you'll have to search it as if you're using partner miles (like JL). You'll see that there is no availability for Delta miles on AF on 5/14 from JFK to CDG.
OP ... first find the transatlantic space. Look at the Wiki page of JFK airport and see where Delta flies from there. Search each destination. Even if you can get to LHR on DL, then take AF/AZ/KL to Italy for 100K, that's a win.

OP is looking to transfer MR points. He can just throw them to FlyingBlue for this redemption.
It just seems that the only non-stop flight option available is a delta flight, specifically:
Delta flight 86 (JFK to VCE) on 5/9
Delta flight 245 (FCO to JFK) on 5/21
Again, flexible on dates here...I just want to go in May and I want the trip length to be at least 10-12 full-days in Italy.
As well as being flexible with dates, you also need to be flexible with non-stop vs connecting to/from Italy. Willingness to make a connection should theoretically open up lots more possibilities. As others have pointed out, your best value is going to come from partner awards (AF/KL/AZ) which will all price out at 100k per person in biz with a connection in CDG/AMS/FCO/MXP/etc.
I don't own one of these services and have no interest in this, but doesn't it seem like the OP would be a perfect candidate for an award booking service? As a novice, spending a couple hundred dollars to get low level awards and save hundreds of thousands of MR points seems like it would be well worth it.
