Just got this email from Delta. Can anyone tell me if I need to be at the airport super early? Is there a sky priority line at FLL? TSA precheck? I know my flight is already oversold so I am hoping for a bump. Should be pricy because most every flight out of FLL is either oversold or completly full for 1/8.
Dear ________
On January 8th, follow these travel tips to zip through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and avoid the post-game crowds:
Check in online up to 24 hours before departure or from a web-enabled mobile device to avoid airport lines.
Plus, choose the eBoarding Pass check-in option, and your electronic boarding pass will be sent directly to your device.
Arrive at least 2 ½ hours prior to your flight's departure to allow for plenty of time to clear security.
Our FLL ticket counter opens at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8th.

I believe last time I was there they have a sky priority line at security. It's actually nice delta sent out that email to people who may not know the game was being played. Wish they would send them out when they know about heavy cruise line days.

Most of this is just hype for on line check-in -- but FLL and MIA do handle a lot of cruise traffic this time of year.

Last time I flew through FLL in Fall of 2011 they had Sky Priority so i'm sure it's still around. From what I can tell FLL is a fairly heavy medallion route so I can't imagine they removed SP from that airport. TSA.gov confirmed Pre check is available at FLL as well.

good luck VDB'ing!!
There are very few Medallions at FLL. It's a leisure destination.
SkyPriority and Precheck are both available. Go to the right after you check in.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Delta appears to be running fewer flights than usual that day surprisingly, unlike IND last year after the super bowl when they ran a bunch of widebodies to take up some of the extra capacity.

So is MCO but that doesn't mean it isn't medallion heavy. FLL, WPB, and MIA, like MCO, are more than just vacation destinations. There are a large number of locals who fly for work.
You're comparing apples and oranges. Super bowl is the Super Bowl. Every one and their mum wants tickets to that game regardless of who's playing. However the BCS title game is comprised of the two opposing sports teams fans who want to come down to watch it.
I'll be watching but don't expect me to fly down to fll/Mia to go see it

They have SP and precheck. If you get denied from the precheck though it can take quite some time getting through security if it's busy.
Also don't expect to eat inside the terminal. It's a wasteland for food. Dunkin donuts express, sbarros, and some sub place.

I'm lifetime 0% out of TPA, ~33% out of PBI, ~60% out of MCO.
I'm lifetime 90%+ out of FLL with probably 25 or so data points.

Yes, SkyPriority is on other side of TSA checkpoint. Pre-Check is further on east side of TSA checkpoint. You can kept the shoes, belt, jacket on & laptop in and 3-1-1 liquid & gels as well.

Find that tough to believe. I've flown into FLL when I was FO but both times there were 50 plus names on the UG list. Maybe they were all vacationers but that's a lot of leisure travelers with medallion status.
I believe the two threads are completely unrelated. The thread about DL flying ND down to the BCS game was about that. Not about a commercial traveller flying back after the game
