Question Need advice on tricky MQM rollover situation

Hello,
I recently received and spent money on the AmEx reserve and will soon get the 10k mqms from the intro offer. However, the calendar year wiped my existing 20k from my delta account. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Obviously it'd be nice to get those miles back since "technically" i reached 30k in 2012. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Brendan

Technically if you reached 30k EQMs in 2012, then you will get FO/Silver Medallion status and rollover 5k EQMs to 2013.

There is a 'technical' issue with Delta.com Skymiles program, it will show zero rollover ... for 2-7 days in the new year.

Just have patience, if the EQMs dont show up by 1/7/13 then start asking the question through TTU/ Contact us at the www.delta.com webiste.

The terms of the Amex Reserve card are pretty specific in that the MQMs count for the year in which they POST.

If they didn't post before the end of the year, you're probably SOL, sorry

Zero rollover is one thing, but he didn't actually get 30K EQMs if they didn't post. His status would refer to him as Silver Medallion immediately regardless of rollover.

From the Amex Reserve site:

Welcome to FT!

You should keep your fingers crossed...the MQMs post a couple days after the spend, and mine appeared on the web site a day later...meaning the post date was a day earlier than I saw them on my account. So just maybe they will appear tonight with a Dec 31 post date. Let us know.

Need advice on tricky MQM rollover situation

You can also buy 5k MQM by Jan 31 and they will count for the 2012 year. May make sense for you as you'll be FO with 10k already as a start toward requalification. Let us know what happens, we need data.

Didn't even think of that - that's a pretty good idea.

The OP could instead buy 10,000 MQMs during January and get 5,000 rollover. For not too much more money (the cost per MQM drops as you buy more of them) he/she not only would have FO buy also would have a nice head start toward status for the following year.

Do you happen to know what the relative prices are for 5000, 10,000, 20,000 MQM are, or where there is a chart to look at?

Thank you, that is really GREAT INFO!

One question about that, in two parts. Is that 10K MQM maximum per "account credited," or per "account buying?" What I mean is, can the Skymiles account holder buy 10K MQM for himself, and then can a friend gift him an additional 10K MQM for his birthday or whatever reason?

I included the URL, I think it's time that you hit up the T&Cs and do a bit of research! But I'm pretty sure the answer is no

Sorry I missed that URL. I am always happy to look stuff up, especially on Marriott, because I know where it is, but on DL, I usually get lost or the site crashes. DL has such a poorly designed site, and their server is bollocks!

I checked, you are right, the answer is no. Also, they are ONLY offering that for the 2012 year, not for 2013, so it would be of no use for me, unfortunately. It was still good for me to learn it, and maybe they will eventually offer it for 2013, hopefully sooner rather than later.
