Triple score on VDB Sunday Dec 30th

Traveling on 3 domestic award tickets coming home IAH-MSP through ATL. Traveling with SO and her daughter on split PNR

Checking EF at about 90-120 minutes prior to boarding and saw the IAH-ATL flight zeroed out, but no agent yet. Checked about 15 minutes later was seeing y=5, thought maybe I had misread EF on my phone.

Looked when GA showed up and back to zeroed out. As soon as GA started to make the potential situation, I beelined to the desk and was first. I let her know that there was three of us, and said I assumed there were not three over (it was only a CR-9). She looked and smiled. "I might need all three." Reminded her that we had to go as a package and understood if she needed less, someone else would get them.

She protected us on the IAH-MSP direct flight (which zeroed out that flight)

Well, she calls me up and says we will need you seats and take care of you after we get everyone boarded.

$300 VDB vouchers x 3 and we got home 3 hours earlier. Also kept my F seat.

Possible we could have tried again on the IAH-MSP flight but SO's daughter had to get back by specific time.

Not a bad day.

Pretty good but when you wrote triple score... I thought you had taken three bumps.
Years ago flying NW from BOS-MSP on the Sunday after T'giving I as an individual triple scored. Was booked for a mid-morning nonstop BOS-MSP. First bumped to BOS-DTW-MSP, in DTW took another bump to DTW-ORD-MSP, and then at ORD, a third to the last ORD-MSP flight of the day. Back then, I think it was only $200 each but I still made it home on Sunday.

Very nice. Especially getting home the same day. I did have a double individual VDB earlier this year. Two $400s in a day.

I've been known to stack my odds a bit by having multiple legs (often on broken fares) and keeping an eye on EF to see if a SDC may help.

Since I fly out of a hub, there is often a direct that will bet me there faster if I get a VDB and I've had good luck getting ORC on the flights.

Like multiple vdb scores.

Earlier this year, my family scored two successive bumps for 5 ... Each at $400.
Two of us remained hung around for another bump. Total score of $4800.00 over 2.5 days. Hotel and food provided by Delta.

Just a few months earlier, we scored $600 each for three out of Cancun. $1800 there.

Nice job PTC. My best was 4 in a day on the 1st day of spring break back about 8 years or so ago. I posted a writeup here but I was going to MSY for work and there were t-storms all over the south. Luckily I was going out the day before I needed to be there and had a dandy of a day as I was supposed to do BUF-DTW-MSY and ended up BUF-DTW-(BUMP)-MSP-(BUMP)-DTW-(BUMP)-MEM-(BUMP+overnight)-MSY.

Yesterday was bedlam. I needed 3368 mqm to re-qualif for DM - not that it should matter for a KM, but well, i have standards, ya know, so I did a mileage run buf-atl-mco-atl-buf on an a/p fare to get 3600+mqm and save the year.

I could have been bumped on all but the last segment ... and that first BUF flight was wayyyyyy over - i think around 8 or so, and they needed peeps in the worst way and they had no availablility until late today. My guess is they IDB'd some folks as they didn't have anywhere near enough takers.

I didn't hang around the to see on the other flights what they were doing on their offers as I needed those mqm in the worst wa but the counters were offering $400 to anybody who wanted it.

Ahhh, if only I didn't need those mqm so badly it would have been a very profitable day.

Okay so this does not involve a Delta flight but it was my best "denied boarding" story:

February 2001 Jackson Hole, Wyoming. United (Air Wisconsin) BAE146 JAC-DEN was on a weight restriction so our group of 6 had to be "bumped" (though some of that was because United's computer system screwed up and made everyone standby when one person had to change their outbound flight) and so were offered I believe $600 each but because we were nice to the CSR she told us to stay around in case weight restriction was lifted. In the end the weight restriction was lifted but CSR let us keep the vouchers and all the delay meant was that rather than having a non-stop from DEN-LGA we had to suffer on a 777 to IAD then connecting to a CRJ to LGA

I also scored 4 VDB's in one day with DL at the beginning of spring break several years ago. 4 x $400 MSP-ATL. Between spring break and the Final Four being in ATL that year, it was a profitable day.

My experience with Delta has been that if you ask them for mileage credit after a IRQP that they would post the orginal segments that you were supposed to fly. I have asked on two different occassions and they said no problem both times. I bet this would have worked with a VDB situation too.

Sat before Xmas this year I bumped twice on DTW-FLL. Was supposed to be on the noon flight. $400 to go at 345. Show up to 345 and in line to board. GA says we need 3-4 to go tomorrow for $600 and hotel. I went up and said I NEED to be in S. Florida tonight. I don't care if its MIA, PBI, FLL and will take any routing. She types on her computer forever, does a fist pump and says how about direct at 745 in F. Yup! Still hit Me up w/ the $600. Made $1000 that day and watched my Spartans in the DTW sports bar with food vouchers!

ORC is only for Irrop reroutes when you do not have a say in the eventual routing.

When you V(oluntary)DB you get what ever routing you choose to actually fly.

Definitely not always true. I'm sure it's a YMMV situation, but I've always received ORC after a VDB.

Which make sense—in most IROP reroutes it's not like you have no say in your eventual routing.

Not true. It's up to the agent to decide and I have never been told no to a VDB ORC.

I have also had 100% on ORC after a VDB
