What SCs in ATL do not have a self-serve bar, and of those that don't which one is the best?
Just turned 18 this year, and the flight I'm planning on booking will include 3 hours in ATL and wanted to try a 1 day membership to see what it's like.

All SCs in ATL are bartendered. MSP and DTW are self service. Most internationals are self service too and you are allowed to drink at 18 also. So IMHO, try out an International SC where you could legally drink too.

I think our young FTer assumes he/she will not be allowed in a club that has self-service liquor. I don't believe you have to be 21 to gain entry to any club.

He assumes so very correctly. My 18-year-old GM son was not permitted entry into the DTW SkyClub while waiting for his connection to Europe.
He knew that he wouldn't be, so he took a random stranger into the SkyClub to guest him. However, he still wasn't let in as the SkyClub rules say that you're only allowed into a 21+ SkyClub with a person who is 21 years or older who is also a SkyClub member. Now how about that.

The desk attendants always ask for an ID before you can enter the SC. If 21 is the minimum age and they will see your birth year on your license, passport etc. they will probably deny you access if you are alone.
If you can be a guest of someone over 21 you should not have problems getting in. Getting a drink may be another story.
This thread will come in handy during my eight-hour layover in ATL today. Thanks, IROPS! I think I will do a SkyClub crawl. Anyone else in the area is welcome to join me.

Not to throw a cold wet blanket on your dream, but DL rules state that you must be 21 to enter a club with a self serve bar.
Quote:
Members must be 21 years of age to access Clubs with a self-service bar, unless accompanied by a responsible, supervising adult who is also a Club member. Local age restrictions apply in non-US locations.
They do card at the bars with bartenders, as they should since they are still a bar, and can lose their liquor license. I've been carded in several DL clubs, as well as those from UA, US, and CO.
