Plt on AA and DM on Dl. Tried for end of January connection from MSP to ABQ in F. AA 50,000 M via ORD. All F mainframe. DL 80,000 via either SLC or ATL and first flight on each economy and then second flight F. I know this is not planning way ahead but looks like AA fits the bill better. What bugs me is that there are two non stops from Msp to ABQ and no availability at all for DM. Now just comparing best F fares. Will follow up with that shortly.
DL 1600+ vs AA 800.....no comments just posting what I'm checking out. Think I will go with one paid for me to get the miles and one free one on AA for the mrs. For this routing AA PLT beats DL DM (see previous post before this).

Do the AA routings use RJs MSP-ORD and VV?
Should't at least high award tickets be available on DL, assuming that DL is still selling seats in the same cabin on the flights? I thought that was the whole point of DL going to three-tiered pricing levels for award tickets.

How much would this flight have cost? 50,000 miles could probably be put to better use. It's a one-way J award to Europe, eg. on AA and half a low J Europe RT on DL.

Have too many miles to burn and my kids do not live in Europe. I'd like to make a quick trip for a grand kid's birthday. Don't give a damn about Europe.
I've flown quite a few AA flights ex MSP the last couple years. AA runs some mainline to ORD, as well as all mainline to DFW and MIA. There's also a fair amount of regional to ORD and LGA. Generally I avoid regionals if I can, though the CRJ700 has F.
I've found some good deals for Intl using AA at times and if there's a mainline to mainline connection all the better.

Exactly! Who cares what you "could have" used your AA miles for. Point is you used them for what you found worthwhile. I don't get the borderline lectures here. I'm sure as a DM and Plat you're very well aware what you "could have".

You win some with some airlines sometimes and lose sometimes. So is the game played.
You, my friend play the game right, and are just lucky no one else enjoys going to AK. I agree though, one of the best redemption's for only 25K with tix often more expensive than HNL.

That's not always the case. There are a surprising number of AA EXPs who simply let their eVIPs expire each year, eg.

Delta is also much looser than AA when it comes to giving out RDM's so while the Delta ticket costs more miles it may, depending on the circumstances, cost you less to get the 80,000 miles versus 50,000 on AA

Agreed but cost of F with dollars almost half that DL is charging. I think the message more and more to me is that with monitization/buy up to F as well as availability shopping around really pays off. Overall as someone else stated, DL fares out of MSP really are high and checking out UA or AA may be worth it!
