41 MQM Short

Literally 41 MQM short of plat. Called DL and asked for the bump, and they wouldn't do it. Aside from taking a flight (JFK-bos, for instance), any ideas before 1/1/13? Obviously, I can pay approximately $400 for the MQM, but the point is to do this on the cheap. Any suggestions??

Are you sure you don't want to stay GM and roll over 24,959 MQMs as a headstart toward next year's status?

I'd avoid flying DL until the end of the year and roll it over. I did that last year - was about 1000 miles short of diamond and started the year basically already Gold.

There are at least 100 threads on how to get MQMs without flying. DL isn't going to bump you.

I would personally pay for the MqMs. The 1 choice benefit helps offset the cost of the MQM purchase. I think PM was much better than GM. It's worth it. Just my 2 cents

OP, I'm in the same boat. My number is 18 MQM or 4 MQS. I've called twice asking for the points and both times was denied.

I was going to do a run on Wed, but right after purchasing the ticket something came up that I need to attend that day in ATL. It looks like I'll be spending the $399, too.

Agree

Good advice, here. Pay for it and take the $200 DL voucher as a PM choice. That puts your cost at only $200.

Or purchase the one year SC membership for $300 (PM Rate) and your SC membership winds up only costing $100.

Mrs Lieu is short 17 MQM to. The minimum amount of MQMs you can buy doesnt make it worth it. I guess I will have to gift her gold. The only other thing I can think of is the Hilton promo

I'd go Sky Club. Seems like most bang for the buck.

Skyclub Promo code gives you 1500 MQM
• 1,500 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) (Promo Code: SCMQM)

I used the above code to make PM this year after being DM for 2 years where I enjoyed the Skyclub as part of DM.

I think there is a big difference between PM and Gold, the biggest being free award changes. I'd rather be PM with 0 rollover than Gold with 24K rollover, but that's just my opinion. YMMV.
