Boeing 777-200LR ATL-JFK-ATL tomorrow
Took a VDB this evening on my EWR- ATL flight in exchange for a noon flt tmw out of JFK. I was happy for the voucher but quickly my feelings turned to ecstatic bliss once I discovered my new flight was a 777 200ER. And I'm confirmed in F. I've selected seat 5C.
I don't see this flight anywhere on the schedule so it looks like delta has added an additional flight tomorrow to handle overflow between ATL & NYC. calling it flight 9856. It's a quick turn ATL-JFK-ATL. EWR GA said they had an early am flight cancel today (WX or MX I'm not sure) and that really screwed things up.
Anybody have any other information??
Will they serve a meal on this flight? Is this BE cabin? Or regular F? I'm psyched!!
I've never flown on this bird so I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t right now!!
It's a great bird that will have BE seats but not likely BE service. I got upgraded once on a domestic run (DTW-LAX) as Silver...ahhhh pre-FCM days I hardly knew ye!

During proposed meal times for flights between NYC and ATL, they usually serve a meal. If you aren't within the meal time, they offer the snack basket.
I always opt for the chicken salad as the meat entrees or sammwiches they serve aren't very good. Like that hamburger that is like a hockey puck and cold cheese...

Congrats on scoring a domestic ride on a 777! It isn't unusual for DL to ferry wide-body international aircraft between JFK and ATL (they typically have one flight a day on a 767 or an A330,) but a 777 between these two airports is quite unusual.
You will enjoy a fully 180 degree lie-flat Business Elite seat, but service will be domestic-F. (i.e. red blanket and skimpy pillow.) They will serve lunch on the plane, as they always serve a meal (at mealtime) NYC-ATL, but don't expect it to be hot. NYC-ATL meals are usually a sandwich or a salad as opposed to what is typically served on 1,500+ mile flights. NYC-ATL is only 760 miles, which is below the meal threshold, but DL makes an exception for this route.

Thanks for the well wishes. Per DL.dumb there is no meal service on this flight though it is at meal time. We'll see but I'll probably be too busy playing with my full lie flat seat to take time to eat anyways. LOL.
Also DL.dumb says this is a 777200ER though I count 45 J seats which should be an LR according to what I found online. Either way doesn't matter to me!!

Actually, there used to be one a day up until, well, I can't quite remember. Maybe a couple years ago?
Delta.com is not showing any cancellations for JFK, LGA, or EWR to Atlanta. More likely is there was a large volume of misconnects or a flight to another hub was canceled and it was easier to route everyone through ATL to get to the final destination (appears to be spare 777 or either the DXB or JNB aircraft hang around ATL all day, the other does ATL-LAX-SYD/NRT) as ATL is the center of the universe and it was least affected by storms going through the Midwest (vs. DTW, CVG, MSP)

Presumably when they were still running the 777 out of JFK to TLV. I can't think of any destinations served out of JFK with a 777 right now on a regular basis.

Yeah. I was confused too. When I first saw B20 I thought it was JFK. Imthought yay!!! I'll arrive early & spend time with my Oasis friends in T4 @ JFK. Then I realized it was B20 @ ATL. And I was confused because that's a big ... plane for a B gate in ATL.
I just hope there's no equip swap away from the 777.
Though a few hours ago DL.dumb was selling seats in F on this flight. Not anymore. I imagine all other VDB's got on this flight and/or they sold F. It's no longer for sale on DL. EF still hasn't picked the flight up yet. Maybe it's just not being reported by DL...
The departure gate in ATL is now showing one of the E gates so it's looking better for a widebody on this flight. As far as DL.com not having an equipment type showing, I suspect that's because flight numbers such as 9856 are general purpose IROP extra section flights, that are created quickly so that passengers can be moved to them. My guess is that once they assign a specific ship (like 7101 for example) to that XSEC then the website will know what equipment type to show.
I realize that doesn't answer the seating chart question, but that's my best guess.
