It might be like N, but special enhanced inventory set aside for elites. Could the D stand for DM in your case? (Are you now DM or were you DM when the ticket was issued? I'm asking because I see PM rather than DM under your username.)

No, I'm still PM. The ticket was booked into N class, it's just my boarding pass that shows ND. The second leg was upgraded to V 5 days out, so maybe that has something to do with it (I don't think I've gotten a pre-BF upgrade on an N ticket before).

ND stands for....
North Dakota- so not only is the seat fully flat, so is the overhead compartment, the lav, the galley- basically the entire exists in only two physical dimensions- length and width. No height whatsoever.

I'm also seeing NK class on my flight departing today which is award travel.
Travel was booked about 8 days ago at high level on outbound and medium on return.
I was GM when I booked the flight but I am PM now (as of 12/19/2012!!!!). I figured it was some internal designation and didnt' pay much attention to it.

Ahem, that might be true of the part of North Dakota nearest your state, but those of us who are west river natives know that it's anything but flat out here (near DIK for me, personally)
