Delta: At least 30 minutes. Had to 'start over' again and again with various repeated messages like: flight unavailable; one of the segments sold out; session time out...
Then finally it got through. Hang on to your seats, boys and girls: 405,000 miles! Not to mention the ridiculous 19 - 27 hour layovers, not all segments in business, etc. etc.

I can believe it. DL cannot be everything to everyone and doesn't have to price match on award travel. The only part to me that is frustrating is the difficulty to book awards in terms of time since partner awards almost always require a call in to DL. But the broken award calendar is a well known fact. When I look at UA Business Class vs Delta BE on flatbeds, I know why UA gives away so many low level and cheap business class tickets....their product is not competitive. 2-4-2 in Business class on 777s and 747s is pathetic and is nothing like DLs 1-2-1.

All segments are on LH.
(F was available for 135,000 miles RT)
I am impressed with how easy it is to book award tickets on United. Partners availability: coach, business, first, low/high miles required are all on one page. A few clicks and you are done. No mess. No fuss.

You're comparing apples and oranges.
The functional UA (actually CO) award calendar also reflects LH, TG, SQ, OZ, and other Star Alliance award inventory, which is seamlessly bookable on-line.
Compare that experience to the steaming pile of crap found at Delta.dumb that DL management has no interest in fixing.
DL apologistas need to quit defending the indefensible.

Are you serious? Delta service is gross! The be seat is awful looking. Delta just has the worst mileage program in the US so this is what to be expected from an airline like this. It take 40000miles just to get to lax and back from map in coach.
Also had similar experience for Asia trip , ... I have no United status..... 1mm with Delta.
Lots of easy internet availability with United flights (and other Star Alliance) for 65K, best Delta could do was 140K( with many hours of effort). United had availability for original dates. Had to adjust dates by almost 2 weeks to get the 140K on Delta.
Have already switched paid travel to United and related credit cards.

I disagree that UA's flatbeds are 'pathetic'... they are a very, very good product. Having flown both, I rate them as comparable, though I don't mind a narrow seat as long as it is a flat bed.
And you can get United international F on an award fairly easily, and for less than Delta BusinessElite!

A legal open jaw prices as if a round trip, using the one-way pricing for each direction. My OMA-WLG//HKG-OMA (with stopover in NRT on the way back) priced at 135K with all segments in F/J: 75K out and 60K back.
Delta, just got to have a little bit of patience and resourcefulness!
There is an advantage to the torturous way Delta makes us book awards, especially on 2nd tier carriers like China Southern. If one is resourceful and you know how to do it (reading this forum) you can go to almost anywhere in Asia Via CAN or TPE most days of the year, including last minute. I just spot checked and CZ has two tickets LAX-CAN-MNL in business class open for the 24th of December - cost 120,000 miles RT and $350 in taxes.
