Hi everyone. This is my first post. I've loved the information I've been able to glean from the forums.
I'm currently SM/FO. I'm 10,031 miles from Silver right now. I'm willing to buy the 10,000 MQMs offered by Delta. However, that still leaves me short by 31 miles. I don't want to fly unless absolutely necessary because of the cost involved and my schedule. Does anyone know of a way to earn MQMs without flying? Thanks in advance!
But, I'm curious -- which benefit of being FO are you specifically seeking to obtain? If you're only flying 15k mi / yr, it seems a bit odd to spend the $$$ to buy the 10k MQMs just to get FO.
If you really want to board early or get a free checked bag, I'd get the credit card. Otherwise, the other benefits from FO aren't so great.
Consider if it's worth it to you to get a Sky Club membership. When you use the promotional code SCMQM, you will get 1500 MQMs. Too much money for too many miles you say? Yes, but remember that you get the membership at that anything over 25k rolls over.

Thanks for the response. My fiancee is GM and living in another city until June. I'll be flying a lot at least through then, and I like the exit row at booking benefit. Also, I'm trying to stay FO to help with upgrades when we travel together. I made a couple of last minute flights earlier in the year using her companion ticket and a one-way award ticket. We didn't plan my status renewal that well, and I'd like to keep the status for next year while working throughout the year to keep it going forward.
I have the credit card already, and I know I'll still have early boarding. I appreciate the response, as I'm also trying to figure out if it's worth getting the 31 miles for FO.

FO is not bad depending on the city you are based out of and if you plan your travel carefully.
I'm based in MCO and had upgrades probably greater than 50% of the time when I was Silver, that was some time ago though and it is likely getting harder to get moved up front. Preferred seating selection is a plus.

The Hertz promo has ended but IIRC the Hilton one is still alive: stay two nights get 250 MQM. be sure to check the T&C. Otherwise get a SC membership, which has advantages when you travel so it isn't totally wasted money.

If you spend $995 to buy 10,000 MQM's, I sure hope you do something to get the remaining 31 MQM's. MQM's do not roll over unless you hit FO, so if you decide not to get the remaining 31 MQM's, you would have wasted your money.

Thank you. Yes, I definitely wouldn't buying the 10,000 MQMs until I got within range.

if you had any trips last year where Delta re-routed you changed connections (ie DTW instead of ATL) you MIGHT be able to get them to credit you based on your originally purchased itinerary. That'll likely do the trick

Hilton or SkyClub are the only options I believe. I suggest the SkyClub unless you can fit a Hilton stay into something already planned; The remaining MQM will roll over and you'll get a SkyClub membership out of it.
Which credit card do you have? If you have plat. or reserve you could get the spending bonus if you spend $25,000 by the end of the year. If you only have gold, see if they are still offering the 5,000 mqm bonus for upgrading to plat--they have had this promotion for a very long time. Maybe you are close? Perhaps you could put that MQM purchase on the card plus some other kind of large purchase? Sometimes I am able to purchase things for work on my personal card and get reimbursed. This is a good way to get to the threshold.
I realize that time is very valuable, and there isn't much of it left in the year. But you can probably fly to get the miles much cheaper than paying for MQM's. You might want to look into doing a same day turn to get 5k-6k MQM's and then spend less on purchasing the remaining balance.
