SkyWest has put an order in for 100 new Regional Jets from Mitsubishi (MRJ90) with additional 100 options in 2021. SkyWest handles 500+ operations for Delta Connection according to the Wiki Page.
Definitely looks interesting, but it seems like there are no configurations with first class, which is a bummer.
The first flight is 5 years away (which, particularly for a new aircraft from a new-to-the-commerical-market manufacturer, I would take as an optimistic earliest-case scenario). I doubt Skywest knows which airline this aircraft will be assigned to or has made firm decisions about how they will be configured yet. The photo shown was a generic shot from the manufacturer, not an airline configuration.
There was a thread not too long ago with some info about this too, I think as a sidenote to RJs eventually going away. The order was 'preliminary' before but glad to see its firm now as it'll mean less torture-tubes.
Pretty certain if its used for DL Connection it'll be configured with F due to the 74 seat limitations on the regionals. Its a long way out from getting delivered, but I'd expect a 12F/64Y config like the 900.
Skywest has orders for the MRJ90 which has a certificated MTOW of greater than 86,000lbs. That would be in violation of Section 1 (Scope) of the Delta Pilot's Working Agreement. Unless something changes, they won't be flying them in Delta colors.

Good info. For some reason I had thought it was based on seats.
Given that I think it's more likely we'll see them on UA and AA. Down the road that could become a factor for my connections. Given other airlines are putting F in as well it would be compelling.

Keep in mind that SkyWest currently flies twice as many flights as United Express as it does for DeltaConnection. SkyWest also flies regionals for AS, US, and now AA as American Eagle.
