Hi,
New GM (Have been Siver for the last few years). Just booked a flight to Peru in December. I asked the Gold line guy if I get access to the lounge as a Gold on International flights. He said no only if flying B-Class. But this is from the Delta Site on additional benefits for Golds and above:
"Lounge Access—Complimentary access to most SkyTeam lounges worldwide when traveling in any class of service. Simply present your same-day ticket for an international or connecting SkyTeam flight. You can even invite a guest to join you in the lounge."
Am I missing something? Was the guy on the line wrong or I am reading wrong.
Thanks!
And PS: Love the site. Been reading for years. GREAT INFO!
GM=STE+. You should have access to ST lounges on an international ST intinerary. I never had a problem getting into international lounges when I was GM/STE+ on a ST flight.

GM is SkyTeam ElitePlus now, so you get access to SkyTeam lounges when traveling on a SkyTeam "international" (check the definition DL uses for international in different situations, but Peru is international) itinerary, including domestic connections on the same PNR/ticket.
The exception would be contract lounges. Some of these are only for premium cabin passengers. This might be the case in Peru, but even then, you could access DL SCs on your day of departure and similarly for your return flights.
On the old delta.dumb, you could click on travel information>airports>SCs>lounge locations and use the drop down menu to check, including definitions in the footnotes at the very bottom of the webpage.

Caribbean destinations are excluded from the definition of "international" for the purposes of lounge access (although the new site doesn't seem to mention this any more). OP will have access to the Sumaq lounge at LIM.

Caribbean is excluded, but evidently Canada is not.
I haven't tried this out yet, though. I fly to Canada weekly and made Gold in late Oct, but just realized this a few weeks back. However, a coworker in the same situation has had no trouble getting into the SC in DTW.
You. Original Poster. See the Help tab, click Glossary.
DOH!
Okay, so now I am a bit confused. We land at LIM from ATL around midnight and fly out to Cuzco early in the morning (on a separate ticket). Will we be able to access the Sumaq lounge as a GM for a few hours after our Delta flight?

I would assume not because outside of the USA, lounges that aren't designated otherwise are considered to be departures lounges, so you get access only on the basis of flights that you haven't yet taken. The name sounds like a contract lounge (rather than a SkyTeam partner lounge, so it might be available only to BE passengers and not all DL elites). Many international airports segregate arriving and departing passengers, so you might not be able to get to the door of the lounge until you check in for your departing flight. You might check whether there's a priority pass lounge or whether there are contract lounges that sell admission. There might also be an AmEx of Diners Club lounge at the airport; check if you qualify.
