15K skymiles with a single swipe!

Wondering if any of you have experienced the same..I was pretty stoked!

Sun night seated in 19B on DL2363 JFK-LAX. AVOD unit keeps falling down and hitting my knee. Had been having a nice convo with the FA in the jumpseat during taxi and climb. She noticed my problem .. went something like this..

FA: Thats horrible.. sometimes passengers who don't fly often break the tv units bc they dont know how to get them out of the seat.
ME: Its no problem! Ill just go online and make a complaint.
FA: Do you fly delta often?
ME: Exclusively.
FA: Do you have a medallion card on you? If you do.. give it to me.
ME: Uh.. yes.. (she then proceeds to take my card, and the credit card reader, swipes and and selects 15000 miles. The reader then prints out a receipt)
FA: Im so sorry about the inconvenience.. I just deposited 15K into your account.
ME: (shocked look on my face)

Happened to me ATL-SFO on a 763 with recliner seats last week. I just grabbed a few napkins and wedged it in...

Keep that receipt, I doubt those miles will post.

I'm NOT saying that compensation isn't deserved in certain situations, but there IS a relation to these large bonuses being paid and any perceived mileage devaluation.

DL makes it VERY easy to pad accounts with "extra" mileage.

I got 5,000 this way because they only had one meal choice when they got to my row (I didn't care but the FA insisted).

Agreed. They won't go in automagically. You will need to send in the receipt and inquire about it several times.

Good to know, find SOMETHING to complain about and get miles!

I already see the new Skymiles adds: "Miles for Complaints"

While it does give the perception of devaluing miles (and to an extent it does), at least it shows DL frontline employees are both allowed to assist the customer and encouraged to do so.

I'd be willing to wager that service recover miles accounts for a very small portion of the non-flying miles. I agree there is miles inflation, but I think it has more to do with promotions and marketing.

Nice score if they actually post. Best I've gotten from a swipe is from a SC agent, 2500 miles for each myself and companion for a 3hr mx delay and reroute. I never expected to get miles from an agent, just would send in a complain it something warranted it and got some that way.

Let's suggest the following list as a starter:

  • Tea/Coffee to hot/cold - 1,000 miles
  • Apple/Orange juice not available - 2,000 miles
  • MX delay - 2,500 miles
  • Biscoffs not available - 5,000 miles
  • Snack basket options limited to two when arriving at seat - 7,000 miles
  • Snack basket options limited to one when arriving at seat - 10,000 miles
  • Broken IFE - 15,000 miles
  • Seat does not recline (fully) - 18,000 miles

F/A issued miles for "service issues"

In the last year alone, I've been issued miles three times, (5000,5000,10000) for "Inflight Service Issues." Each time the miles automatically posted within 2 weeks I did however, keep the receipts just in case

Lol, so snacks/biscoff are apparently seen as a more important issue to Delta than an MX delay
