Travel with my girlfriend.
1.if both of us on the same reservation code ticket, can both of us get upgrade? Or it is hard to get it because I travel with non-status person?
2. Another question: If I pay for my ticket and use miles redeem a same itinerary ticket for her, can I talk to Delta to get both upgrade when there are enough seats? possible?
Thank you

You can both get upgraded, but it will be harder as your upgrade priority is determined by the lowest medallino status booked on the same PNR (in this case, no status).
It depends on what your goal is - if you want to maximize the chance of one person getting upgraded, then split the PNR, but your GF will no longer be upgrade eligible.
Or if you want to maximize the chance of sitting together, keep the PNR together.

That's not always the case, which is why the question is asked.
The followup question you should answer is: If you increase your chance of getting one upgrade by splitting the PNRs, and offer to give it to her, will she have good memories of the first class experience even if you sit apart for a while? Will she value the seat room, attention, and food & beverages?
You can split the record so you get your normal GM upgrade priority. You can then also request a companion upgrade since she is traveling on the same flight, and have her added to the upgrade list. You'll clear at 3 days (if available) and she won't clear until 12hrs before. You don't need to be on the same record to get her on the list, just the same flights.
If you stay together you'll be dragged down and neither of you will clear until 12hrs, if there is any space.
Note however, if you do split then only you will be eligible for skypriority benefits (EC seats, early boarding, free bag etc).
She would not be eligible for an upgrade on pay with miles. Doesn't hurt to ask the GA if there is an open seat after everyone else is cleared, but its unlikely.

Good luck.
Actually, even if you split the PNR, you can still have the other person on the upgrade list. It will require a call to Delta to set up though.

This. To sit together, buy the tix together and you both will be eligible for the upgrade. In this case you will be placed at the bottom of the upgrade list and it is "all or none". You can also be on the same pnr and split reservation (you have to call DL to do this manually). This leaves you with the GMs on the upgrade list and your partner below all medallions. Unless the flight is completely wide open, the chances of both of you getting upgraded diminishes greatly. Even if you both get upgraded, there is a good chance you won't be sitting next to each other.
Personally, I like traveling next to my wife because we can share our personal space which makes traveling in Y much more bearable....even more so if we are seated in EC or in an exit row. So I never split our pnrs, even if this means me passing up a likely upgrade.
As for your second question:
If you have a DL amex, you can use "pay with miles" upon purchase. Mile redemptions gets split between the tickets being purchased.
If you buy your ticket and use miles for an award ticket for your partner, your pnrs will be separate. So your only choice is to call DL to see if they can link your pnrs to get on the upgrade list (I forget at the moment, but I think award tickets are upgradeable for GM+, not sure if it makes a difference if you are on a separate pnr) Linking your pnrs helps in keeping your seats together, but this isn't guaranteed.
Of course, you can ignore all of the nonsense above, and find a better girlfriend; I'd suggest a dm, but a pm may suffice if she has a great personality. Then, you will no longer endure this dilemma.

No

Not to hijack the thread, but my question ALMOST got answered above and maybe I could squeeze out a bit more info...
My son and I are going to FL, PHF-ATL-MLB, but in the middle of the return, he goes home and I stop in ATL for business for a couple of days.
My ticket was purchased by the company, his by me. My first instinct is to just see what happens with the UG, since it would be more fun for him to sit up front in my UG seat than for us to sit together (teenager ), should I get one. But with this situation, two different itineraries, can I set up a companion linkage, say, on the outbound leg where we are together?
(added) we are sitting together as of now, but if we get split, no big deal. But both of us front might happen on these flights, even at the bottom- and this would be the top choice.

If you pay with miles, you will not earn SM for the flight.
In order for her to be named for a companion UG she needs to be on a paid ticket along with yours.
If she is on award she will not get any companion upgrade even if there are empty F seats.
IF you two absolutely must fly seated next to each other then bite the bullet and buy two tickets on the same PNR, call and have a note attached to the PNR that upgrade is both or none.

IME you should; I had my wife upgraded on the same flight as me but her final destination was different (YYZ ATL NRT HKG/MNL). We were on different PNR by she was upgraded as my companion YYZ ATL.

Thanks- just did this - agent said I still stay on the PM UG list, son gets the end-of-the-line companion upgrade at T-24 if available - best of both worlds! Hope that helps OP also [/HIJACK]

As a medallion member you can request an upgrade for anyone on the fight who:
1) Has a valid SM number
2) Is on a revenue fare
In your situation, with separate reservations, your u/g clears as per normal, and your sons will clear after FO u/g clear.
FYI you have to request this via-phone and in advance.
