Platinum Medallion (PM) Lounge Access

I checked the benefits and it seems PM SkyMiles members don't have complimentary Sky Club access but have complimentary Skyteam Lounge Access (on intl. flights)? Aren't Sky Clubs part of Skyteam Lounges?

Welcome to FT.

Yes, SkyClubs are part of SkyTeam lounges, thus as a PM with an international itinerary you do indeed have access to SkyClubs too.

Yes, you may access Sky Clubs when you have a same-day international Skyteam flight (excluding Caribbean flights).

Complimentary US SkyClub access was removed as a Plat benefit when they introduced Diamonds. As other have stated, if you have a same-day international ticket you can still get into the US SkyClubs. Also, if you have a Amex Plat card (not Delta Plat) you get free SkyClub access plus a host of other benefits like $200 airline credit, which helps take the sting out of the yearly cost.

If I am PM but am on a domestic DL flight, how firm is Delta towards granting access to Sky Clubs?

Platinum Medallion (PM) Lounge Access

Very firm. They will be happy to sell you a day pass

The rules are quite clear, they won't let you in unless you have a membership, buy a day pass, or have a real Plat AMEX (NOT the Delta branded Plat Amex). The agents have seen it all in terms of people trying to weasel their way in. Dropping your Plat Medallion card on them is not going to impress them in the slightest.

Quite firm. The answer will be no. If you have the Delta Amex you can get in for$25.

Or you can hang outside one and ask everyone coming in for a guest pass.

I have a related questions. I am flying ORD - DTW - AMS - IST. My question is, can I use the SkyClub in ORD before I start my trip?

If it is all part of a same day trip, you will have access. the SC will just ask for your DTW-AMS boarding pass.

Cheers,

Or if you're on a domestic itinerary, you could buy a refundable int'l ticket and then immediately cancel it once you enter the SkyClub.

That is very tricky with an international ticket, checking in, obtaining a boarding pass, then "immediately cancel it once you enter the SkyClub"? So you ask the agents in the Club to refund it? What is your reason? "Now that I had a drink in the overcrowded SkyClub, I no longer want to fly."? Sounds very strange to me.

If the SC is as bad as many people say it is, why would you even want to enter it?

Oh I wouldn't do it. I have Sky Club access anyway, so it's a non-issue for me. I was just reading on another forum here where people admit to buying refundable tickets, check-in and clear security, then go to the airline's lounge while waiting on family or friends (or even just to go to the airport), and then refund the ticket after accessing the lounge. And in typical FT fashion, it started a huge debate over whether that was right or not because of adding to the overcrowding in the lounge and adding to the length of the security line and whether that was right to do to the airline, etc. etc.

Been there done that. I thought it was cool at first, but then I quickly realized that bottom-shelf liquor isn't worth putting a $1500 credit hold on my card
