Legit beef or just series of unfortunate circumstances

Flying HOU to ATL Saturday after Thanksgiving. My wife, no status, and I , GM, cleared at the window to F. I checked Thursday night and confirmed we were seated in 1 C/D. At OLCI, I noticed our seats were 5 A/B so I called Delta and learn about an equipment change. The CRJ 900 got down sized to a CRJ 200. Major bummer as the new equipment has no F cabin. Print new BP's and because fare class shows V, no HOOU. I think no biggie, I'll politely ask a Redcoat for one. No Redcoat around in HOU so I explain and ask the GA. No dice. I decide to have a drink anyways because its vacation and college game day. Order my drink and present my DL Reserve AMEX. FA tells me cash only which I didn't think DL even did anymore. I dig out a $10 bill and the FA never brings me change. So I didn't get the 20% discount and didn't get change. I was just done with the flight and glad to be home. Worth a complaint to DL?

You should have insisted on getting change, no matter what. At this point, I'd just let it go, and silently wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, especially the FA who got the unacknowledged tip.

Have a nice Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and watch some games - there are some good ones today.

Go figure! Read the last line here:

http://www.delta.com/components/popups/ife/cashless.jsp

In order to expedite our onboard payment process, we only accept credit and debit cards—no cash—on Delta flights within North America . . . . .

Please keep in mind:

Credit card payments are not yet accepted on Delta Connection® flights.

Did you ask the F/A for your change?

I thought this was going to be about getting a good meal on a flight and wondering if it was a fluke.

Could have been an ASA flight. They're cash only!

It was ExpressJet . . . .

The only HOU/ATL flight today on a CR2 showing on FlightAware is DL5116. The slightly odd thing is, that it still shows a CR9 on DL.com.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/A...520Z/KHOU/KATL

Just a side note - - -
CR9 flights on DL.com show: "Canadair (Bombardier) Regional Jet 900 and Challenger 890".
I've never noticed, or even heard of the term "Challenger 890" before. Seems to me this is something new with the new DL.com home page, but I could be wrong!

Hence the reason for cash only!

Fluke is not beef, but rather a type of fish.

Thank you for not writing a 25 paragraph dissertation on your issue

I vote marginal, but agree that the $4.40 you were shorted was a clear "wrong" for DL. So they owe you something, and adding a sympathy issue with the drowngrade does not hurt.

I would leave out the HOOU issue. DL in no way promisses these (AFAIK).

There is no harm in writing and sending a short letter to Delta Air Lines, ATLpat, similar to what you posted in this discussion. Present the verbiage in a more professional manner before you send it.

You never know — what do you have to lose?

Agree with you, Canarsie. Make no bones about it, sounds a little fishy to me since he was shorted 4 gills. File a short letter, then bait and see what happens.
