Delta Sky Deck
Has anyone seen the architectural digest this month showing the outdoor deck they are building at the intl sky club in ATL? Anyone have any more info on it?

Am I the only person who sees the red triangles (widgets) and now the red awnings as some kind of a reference to the red tail and compass of NW? Maybe RA really liked the color red when he worked at NW?

Why didn't they build the sky deck as part of the Terminal F construction? It sounds like a needlessly expensive mess to add the deck now.
If the terminal was engineered with the load-capacity in mind for the deck then what they are doing makes perfect sense IMO.
Separate the projects and give yourself more headroom for the opening of the revenue generating component.
The construction crews who build a giant high-tech terminal are not the same folks who are going to build a roof deck.
Exciting! The first time I went into the F SC I saw the little platform that's currently an emergency exit across from the bar and thought how cool it would be to have an outdoor area.
Any reports on when they're looking to start building?

Really great news. Looking forward to using it. I wonder if there is any chance it will be in use by Summer-Fall 2013, it would be nice if it was. Probably hoping too much. 2014 is probably more likely.
I hope it doesn't become a smoking porch, like the cactus garden at SIN.
i actually think these outdoor smoking areas are good for smokers and non-smokers. No chance of the smell getting inside like some of the poor indoor smoking lounges. Tampa is an example of a good way to add smoking lounges for passengers.

Or how about just more space or better use of current space. I don't know how many times I do a revolving door move through the SkyClub...I check in, see the place is packed beyond belief, leave, and go settle in at the more comfortable and less chaotic boarding gate area.
