Now that it is implied there may be more interaction with Delta and Flyertalk, I wanted to start a new open thread on one of the hottest topics discussed in this forum.
As you must have read there have been many complaints directed towards the award calendar. Not to go into extreme detail but they include:
1. "Low" level not matching actual mileage amounts..
2. Inability to book complicated muti-city tickets online
3. Multipe error messages with flights not being found
4. Lack of partner awards that can be booked online.
And many, many more issues....
So I wanted to see if Delta can respond to the general complaints on this issue? The Delta website used to say something like "we are working on it and made improvements in May 2010" under the "whats ahead" link..but there has been nothing since then.
Can you provide an update to the status of the award calendar and when (or if) we should expect to see any fixes or improvements?

Don't forget no "One-way" awards - well not for a "one-way" price anyway, even though award amounts are displayed as "Each Way" online. Granted the information up top does say "Award mileage shown is each-way based on a required round-trip or multi-leg Award Ticket purchase" but they might as well say "25,000 miles round trip, additional mileage may be required for Multi-City" rather than "12,500 each way".

Bob Kupbens Vice-President, eCommerce, for Delta on Oct 21, 2010 at the FT DO regarding the Award Calendar: (1) "it's not working like we want"; (2) "we know it"; and (3) "we're working on it".
Honestly I think we need to be patient here. They've only had 25 months to work on the Award Calendar.

Please don't derail the thread. This is about fixing the calendar; not challenging the business decision of whether or not one way awards should be allowed.
I'm not sure that they will respond to this, here in this forum.
Well here is as good a place as any. Delta took the time to introduce a new group that will be watching and responding on Flyertalk. Might as well officially ask them about the award calendar since its been a hot topic for years.

Hey everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to give our new Award redemption structure a try. Your feedback is invaluable, and we really do want to hear it – the positive and the negative. We’re listening.
...We also recognize that some of you have encountered technology issues while searching for or booking Award Travel. We’re working hard to make the delta.com experience customer-focused and customer-friendly. Our technology team is aware of the issues and is working quickly to correct them.

Chris Christie certainly discerned the Twinkie question was a trap.
But in this case, it's not a trap. It's a serious test of the social team's commitment and empowerment to answer questions. I hope they answer honestly, and the award calendar really is going to receive the attention of competent data base professionals this quarter.
I have just switched a lot of my travels to United, but I occasionally come back to this forum to see updated comments about Delta. I came today because I am frustrated with the new web-page. I am Gold Medallion exclusively because of international travel... but am booked on a Delta North American trip next week, in large part because I wanted to see what domestic Economy Comfort is like compared to United Economy Plus. Unfortunately, the Delta web-page will not show me any seats forward of my previously assigned seats, even though the Economy Comfort seats show available if I start a new booking. After being on-line with tech support for abuot 15 minutes, I gave up changing my seat asignment and came to this forum to vent my frustration.... the only problem with United's Economy Plus is that I cannot select the EAC seat in advance if I slip to Silver status.

I have encountered the same error but I figured out how to get it to show more foreward seats. Take your mouse and point it in the seat area then use the wheel on your mouse and it will move the seat map so you can see more seats.
As far as the calendar is concerned I think of it as being more in a state of broken and working at the same time. I have found when I am searching for low and the calendar shows low I know that its out their I just have to find it. I know that most don't want to search, neither do I. But I realize that Delta is more worried about getting Skymiles off the books and refuse to fix the calendar.

To see seats in front of yours, there is a tiny little scroll bar to the right of the seat map. It doesn't look like a scroll bar, and it's really hard to see, but it is there.
I submitted this as feedback when the new website came up, but it's still "working as designed". It's about as intuitive as the award calendar.
