Any prayer of an op-up on on DL159 or DL158?
I know, I know: these threads are the bane of FlyerTalk. But here's another!
Can any of you expert flyers tell if DL159 (DTW-ICN) on November 22nd, or DL158 (ICN-DTW) on November 28th are looking oversold? I'm hoping against hope for an op-up on these loooong-haul flights.
Thanks in advance!
(P.S. Before you launch into the lecture: I'm well aware that these flights are not technically upgrade-eligible as a Medallion. I just want to see if I might score an up-up.)

Both are wide open in back. Still have LUT and even E available.

OP, i'm there with you. I'm on DL 34/35 this week and was hoping for an OP UP as well but EF shows me T9 and Q5 respectively so i'll be in the back as well.
you did give me an idea though about the entire row. I'm on 763 on the A/B side but maybe I should switch to middle 3 so I can stretch out. hrmmm. something to consider.

Ha, thanks. But now I have to further expose my ignorance by asking what YMMV means!
Somewhat related topic. Flew CDG-DTW yesterday in Premiere Voyageur. Was amazed on boarding to see three separate incidents of DL PM and DL DM literally begging the FA to be in the section. The excuses were "I am DL DM, I am supposed to get this", "I would have bought it if I had known it was here", "I am DL PM, they made a mistake and assigned me a seat in the back". Thank God the FAs were typical AF and didn't tolerate any of the nonsense. Sent all three back to Voyageur and we left with 14 open seats in the cabin, the rest occupied by only those that paid for them. Made for a nice, roomy crossing.
Do people really do that? Where is personal pride? Do people really think that "I won't pay for it, but deserve it" really reflects on them as a "valuable" customer?
I am being serious here, I am not trying to be a prick, but I have never seen people beg, negotiate, etc. for something they didn't deserve.

Wow, really?
I've asked very nicely. a couple of times, about TATL op-ups, and gotten them. The most recent was out of CDG, when I knew that Y was overbooked, so I figured somebody would hafto get it!

I can understand asking the desk if they are overbooked, but this was absolute shamelessness in the cabin with the FAs. I have never seen behavior like it. If you think I have a WFBF attitude, I could take lessons from AF flight attendants.

Babbashow, although I agree with you I must disagree too. As a DL DM, I have come to expect the benefits that DL says come with being a DM. If I don't get them then I at times remind others that I should. Example; I buy YBM in hopes of getting Z across the pond using SWU etc. I will vent if the GA gives the upgrade to a non rev etc. from time to time ill ask nicely for an op up on an intelligible fare but I don't demand it. I understand that some push the envelope but DL changes as they please so who knows what one is entitled too unless they ask
