I knew I would be flying LAX-SLC-JFK-ROC today, so last week went online and bought a one day pass... printed it out, and figured I'd use it at SLC and JFK...
I flew to SLC, went to the SkyClub, and handed my $50 pass to the woman at the entrance who proceeded to tell me that it was expired. Even though my emailed receipt says good until Nov 11, 2013. The pass itself said purchased on November 12, 2012... That was the only date on it...
I told her I bought it a few days ago for today's flights, and she told me that it was only good one the day I bought it(!) I told her that would be pretty ridiculous, since I got it on the My Delta page for today's flights, and my flights were today not when I bought the pass.
She told me she was keeping the pass, and told me how "lucky" I was that she was going to let me into the Club... She told me "Other SkyClubs wouldn't even do that"... So I got to go into the club for about 10 minutes after spending all my time dealing with her, so had to leave to board my flight...
So I am landing at JFK in an hour, and don't even have a pass any more.... Today was the first time I flew Delta, and I'm not impressed... I now get to spend more time fighting with the staff at JFK I guess...
I actually thought about buying another one and just contesting that one on my Delta Gold Amex... But when I went to do that, it kept thinking it was a ticket, and told me I had to contact the airline... ughhh
Needless to say when I get to JFK I'll drag out my email receipt on my phone and deal with a Supervisor if I need to...

I have been consistently unimpressed with the desk agents in the sky clubs. They don't know their own products and are completely unable to comprehend the rules set by their own company. See it a lot when heading in and out of clubs, people have to ARGUE over the rules set forth by the club about entrance. Plenty of threads on this. Delta needs to work on this and get it right. Hell, I'm nervous about my upcoming trip, as I'm a SC member flying UA and want to use the SC in ORD. I will be 100% ready with the regulations for when I almost undoubtedly get stopped and told I'm not allowed to enter....
Call your credit card and ask them to reverse the charge since you did not use the service provided. Call Delta and tell them what happened and ask for a complimentary day pass to use on your future pass. I would pursue this because you were right and the agent was wrong.
Most passes are valid for more than just 3 days. When I bought an American Admirals Day pass it was valid for a year. So go figure something must be wrong in their system because what if your flight went IRROP etc. There has to be a longer validity period. From now on just buy the pass at the lounge when you want to use it unless its cheaper online.

Do one or the other, but don't do both. Doing both will ding you with both downstream, even if you get both the freebie & credit.

This doesn't solve your current problem, but when you buy the pass at the desk with your AMEX it is only $25(At least the one time I tried it which was last week). So I guess I'm adding to your frustration, sorry.

I think the $25 at the desk, paid with AMEX is a "one visit" pass (good for entrance to one club), not a "one day" pass (good at multiple clubs in a single day)

Things went better at JFK (other than sitting on the runway for almost an hour before we could get a gate)...
I went to the SC and explained to the person at the desk what happened and how I no longer have the pass. I showed him my email receipt and he apologized for the treatment I received in SLC.
A totally different (and positive) experience here at JFK.

This is correct.

I totally agee, although since the OP was able to use the JFK club, I think the right resolution would be to report the SLC agent for "retraining" (including a reading course since she was apparently confused about the dates printed on the pass), but the OP is owed little if anything further.
