Updated Million Miler benefits?

The new site had some additional detail I wasn't aware of; not sure if it's always been part of the program but not advertised or not.

7 mil gets you a unique "Clooney up in the air" experience, there are gifts each million, 1 to 4, and "special" gifts each million from 5 on.

That's interesting - between 4-7 million nothing extra? Kind of dumb, they could have thrown DM in there.

Further confirmation of "annual renewing" status rather than "lifetime" status: "Offers and benefits subject to change without notice." It's pretty clear to me that annual renewability is one of the offers subject to change without notice.

I was surprised to read in a recent thread, that, in the "olden days", all miles earned, including, for example, hotel & car rental miles - - and even miles flown on FREE TICKETS, were counted as MQMs!!! So, there are some high multi MM'ers out there from way back when. Certainly, by today's BIS (mostly) earning standards, there should be something VERY special gifted for each MM level attained.

I guess, if they awarded lifetime/annual Medallion levels at each MM level, they could simply be awarding people who flew on a lot of free tickets, or other non-flight related activity years and YEARS ago!

After nearly 40 years of DL travel, I have earned MM miles under every variation of rules they have thrown at us.

With the AMEX component, I would hardly call today's earning standard (mostly) BIS.

Still amazing that they will not spring for DM at any level.

Well, for me, I only have 1 DL Amex - - Platinum. I would probably still have the Gold card, if somebody hadn't pointed out to me that credit card MQMs count toward MM status. (It just never occurred to me! - I'm striving for 2MM, thus lifetime/annual Gold)

So, with only 1 DL Amex, I say it's mostly BIS MQM earning. I do realize that some people must have EVERY possible Amex imaginable, thereby getting status without even flying!

That said, I simply can't imagine getting MQMs for flying on a free ticket! Must've been nice, way back when!

But wait... there's more...

There was a time when UGs were accesed via coupons that you could purchase with miles, one coupon for each segment up to 800 miles in length. IIRC, you could get four coupons for 2500 miles. And at that time, you received a minimum of 1000 FF miles credit per segment. So, you could make a 1500 mile net profit by using coupons for a 4-segment trip.

That was likely during the all miles were MQMs period.

Others here might have a better recollection.

I wasn't as fixated on the topic back then.

Do you mean you don't remember how many MQMs you earned in 1972???

Yea Delta, like I'm going to continue to fly you more for many years so I can have a chance of possibly being granted complimentary Silver status for a couple of extra years before you withdraw this benefit.

This is one of the major reasons I don't trust Delta to invest in them alone for my flying needs like I used to do. Once the Revenue-based system kicks in I'm gone from the status-seeking game on Delta.
