No they don't. It's a space-available upgrade and not everyone gets upgraded. You already get bonus miles for being a medallion member (25% silver, 100% gold/platinum, 125% diamond).

No. No extra bonus miles for not getting upgraded. Your bonus miles are determined by your Medallion level: 25% for Silver, 100% for Gold/Plat, and 125% for Diamond. You can also get bonus miles for buying certain fare levels (Y/B/M and First/Business Elite fares). But none of those are factored on whether or not you get an upgrade.

Haven't seen this in awhile but seems we used to have it.
I can't remember how far back now but I seem to recall at one point that we got 1000 mile bonus if we didn't get an upgrade. I think that's been a long time ago...might have been back on NW. At any rate, I don't think it is something we should get...to me if I get an upgrade it is a bonus and I don't expect it. I hold the want first, buy first opinion. In fact I used it today when I was low enough on the upgrade list for a redeye tonight that i was afraid I wouldn't get upgraded...so I called and made the change to first and paid the difference myself...some DYKWIA is going to lose an upgrade tonight because of me...LOL.

That could be costly. I was on a flight from ATL to SFO on 11/6. There must have been close to 90 names on the upgrade list. Diamonds were sitting in the back with me and not even in Exit or EC rows!!

If one remembers to OLCI one will indeed get a HOOU coupon. I sometimes forget. Also I have never had the balls to print two off and use one per segment. So on rare occasions I have two legs and neither upgraded xxx-ATL-yyy for example or when they use CRJ 200 for the first leg and I use my HOOU coupon for that. In this instance it would be a nice extra if I am making sense.

Anyone ever tried duplicating HOOU coupons, i know they are dated when you print a boarding pass. I'm sure the barcodes have some type of unique-ness to them. Every flight i take has a minimum of one connection as i live out in the sticks.
