I think this was announced earlier this year; it looks as if the codeshare will begin soon. Good for DL--Nigeria is definitely a key market in Africa.

Oil, other business, leisure. ethnic? Which aspect makes it a key market? I am sure the market is not insignificant. But a key market? I am wondering what is it that I missed that makes me object to U.S.- Nigeria market being called "key market"

It was several years ago but I once took this carrier from Legos to the Middle East and it is still the worst flight I have ever had.

Well, if the aircraft was made out of Legos, that was clearly part of the problem

150 million travel-happy population is a "key market" IMHO. A market that has inhabitants in ALL of DL's domestic and international destinations. A market that is being 'wooed' by the world's major airlines.
Nice move by Delta to 'capture' travellers from/to KAN,PHC,CBQ,KAD,ENU and BNI.
The defunct WT(Nigeria Airways) operated direct flights to JFK using DC 10 as early as the sixties.

Quite possible if you are nice to Aliyu Dangote (legally too)
Lagos and not "Legos". Name based on Portuguese influence but not in pronounciation.

Probably was Nigeria Airways (WT.) Air Nigeria (VK) is the successor to Virgin Nigeria, which was renamed after Branson sold off his shares to local investors.

VK is not a horrible carrier, which could never be said about its similarly named antecedent.
