New OLCI "Oversold Message" for Voluntary Bump Bidding Auction...
I tend to fly packed flights and usually receive the "this flight is oversold" message when I checked in.
However, I haven't received it since they switched to the new OLCI system. Has anyone received the message when checking in since then or in the last few weeks?
Since the last few weeks, instead of receiving the 'this flight is oversold' mesage, now recieve a phone call askng me to call back and let them know if I am willing to be flexible in my travel.
I have called back and they have changed my travel to another flight with the offered bonus of: being booked drectly into Y on the next flight + E-Credit Voucher for the change.

Should start seeing the PMNW bid message very soon; ability to add yourself to the volunteer list setting your lowest bid amount.

I wonder how that will work in reality. With NW, no matter how low you bid, you still were given a $300 voucher if you were needed.
Delta had a tendency to select volunteers who were not connecting and/or who were "easy" to rebook. Now if they go to the bid system, will the lowest bid always be the winner? Or will they still take someone who is "easy" to rebook over the lowest bidder?
Personally I am not a fan of bidding for the volunteer list (I guess since I am often the first one at the gate, thus often the first one on the list).

NWA012: thank you for your continuting contributions to FlyerTalk! Great to have you around and knowing you are getting us closer "back" or above PMNW high levels of technology.

That brings back a memory -- there was a year where I had SE status with NW, but Mrs Bob H. didn't.
There was a trip that was oversold and when we checked in on line, she was offered a voucher, but I wasn't. I think the logic was elites don't want or take vouchers, so why offer them !!

Meanwhile, my friend who flies UA a ton, says that VDB pax are NOT taken in the order that you show up to volunteer at the gate - - they are ordered by STATUS!!!

I think it is great to see DL being proactive on this issue. As pointed out above, DL is going to want to change the "easy" rebooks first. That makes total sense. One advantage to multiple hubs, if you're on a spoke, they can send you another route.

But while at NWA, it never was really seriously followed consistently was it? I still recall reports of despite being asked at the kiosk for a bid, it still was processed at the gate dependent on who talked to the GA first.

I have a feeling gate agents will continue doing whatever is easiest for them and gets the flight out on time. I've seen many cases where passengers with checked bags and/or connecting flights turned down for those with carry on and no connections.
In my experience volunteering on line just means they ask you not to board in your zone. That means no overhead space when you are asked to board last.

Just experienced this today at the gate. Flight was oversold and the GA was taking volunteers. I was told I needed to submit a bid.
Not sure if I'm a fan of this system. I can see it working one of two ways.
1. I get underbid by somebody bidding $25
2. They really need people and I can squeeze them for $800 for a short wait until the next flight.
