What is a Canadian Regional Jet 1000?

Just noticed that some of the regional jets are identified as Canadian Regional Jet 1000 when you pull up the seat map page.

These are the flights that, when you are searching for an itinerary, the plane is just identified as a Canadian Regional Jet.

What is the difference between a CRJ 200 (which is what I thought these "unnumbered" CRJs were) and a CRJ 1000?

Its an odd numbering sequence: CRJ 700 (ugh), CRJ 900 (meh), CRJ 1000 (OMG)

They are all manufactured by a Canadian company, Bombardier....why they appear as 'Canadian Regional Jet' instead of just 'CRJ' (which is Bombadier's term) is unknown.

Most of the CRJ models are the worst (uncomfortable) crap to come out of Canada since Poutine. The only thing missing from a CRJ-200 is an onboard chiropractor to fix your spinal alignment after you knock it out while trying to look out the window.

It's just a bug in DL.com...plane isn't even in production yet.

The CRJ-1000 is not yet certified, and I do not know if any North American carriers have ordered the CRJ-1000.

The CRJ-1000 is yet another stretch of the venerable Bombardier CRJ, intended to compete with the Embraer ERJs.

Like the DC-8-61, 757-300, and MD-90, is the "Tube of Pain" variant of the CRJ:

Actually it's predictable: Model number = # of pax in all-coach configuration plus a trailing zero.

The only exception are the CRJ 100 & 200. CRJ 100 is the original 50-seat model; the CRJ 200 is the CRJ 100 with more efficient engines.

Lots of aspiring beer cans in there.

So if they had followed the proper naming convention at the beginning, a CRJ 100 would be the same as a (10 pax) Gulfstream 250.

Yep... trying pulling up the seat map for DL 6454, from PHL to CVG on Feb 8.

Shows the same seat map as the crappy, stubby CRJ200, but identifies it as a 1000.

Have seen the same thing today on other routes.

The CRJ-1000 is a lot like the 757-300 on Delta...They're messed up codes due I think to the nwa.com and reservations shutdown. Every Delta 757 shows a 757-300. The CRJ-1000 is the CRJ-100 which is the exact same thing as the CRJ-200 (minus a small reduction in max take-off weight). Not sure when DL is going to fix all of the incorrect codes because I hear there are more out there...

Yes you are correct....known bug. The reality is DL will not likely buy any of the 1000 models as their regional Pilots are limited to carrying 76 pax.

Who says regional will fly it? You have to know that, just like the 773 and the 753, this machine is [email protected]'s dream. They will be working all-out to find ways to acquire it and have it show up at your home airport as an unpleasant surprise one morning.

What's more, if you check the specs, you'll discover that it has a range of 3100km with full load of 100pax. It will be a horrendous experience.

Why are regional pilots limited to carrying 76 Pax?

Not sure really but here is the reference:

Comair, flying as Delta Connection, has ordered 14 CRJ900s, with at least 6 in service as of Nov 2007.[4] These are in a two class configuration, with 12 first class seats and 64 coach seats. This is due to a limitation in Delta's contract with its pilots which limits its regional carriers to flying 76-seat aircraft.
