interesting to consider that atl/jfk-bom is going away (anecdotal evidence only).
that leaves the winter 777 flights as:
ER'S
ATL-NRT/DXB/TLV
JFK-NRT/MAD
LR'S
ATL-JNB
LAX-SYD
it means that you've got a lot of spare 777s for the winter with pvg/icn/bom/kwi canceled.
Add DTW-PVG in there as well. That 777 is going to need to get to DTW somehow as well - most logical options would be a repositioning via ATL (much like the A330 did MSP-ATL for a couple of months earlier this year), or (and this one I doubt will happen) is DTW-NRT drops to a 777.
I wouldn't be shocked if ATL-GRU goes up to a 777 again this winter (possibly year round), and JFK-TLV is always a possibility.

To continue our discussion from that other thread, on delta.com, DTW-LHR in late October is listed as a 767-300ER (while not showing a seat map) while nwa.com and the World Timetable list it only as a 767.

well based on another glance, it looks like atl-nrt will be daily ONLY and running on the 747 instead of the 777.

Of course, as we're currently discussing in a certain Lounge-type thread in another SkyTeam airline's forum, Delta does love to change their schedules around. I doubt much is set in stone at this point.

oh I understand the frustration however I can understand some of the operational tweaking like equipment up/downgrades. it's the 5 minute time changes that piss me off.

Don't forget ATL-LOS, which has been upgraded to 777-200ER.
Yes, that's one, too. It is high demand during summer travel peak time. I'm sure DL will looking for future more new specific routes on operating 77L aircraft. I think DL is considered for ATL-CPT/HYD/BLR/DEL/GUM/SIN/BKK. It will have enough more capacity growth in ATL hub is good logical choice.

We will probably see expanded service to Asia from DTW with 777s (i.e. DTW-ICN likely, maybe even DTW-HKG). China Southern was to open up PEK-DTW but has delayed the start of that route indefinitely.

We will wait to see. DL will decide to choose which specific routes will inaugurates new nonstop for ATL-HKG or DTW-HKG on operating 77L aircraft. It will have more tougher competitive with CX, CO are already existing service for NYC-HKG. Is that more seriously payload weight restrictions to get more cargo.

When might DTW-HKG start? I have to get there in late October.

DL isn't going to announce a new long distance, high-capacity international route and start service within four months. Absence of implosion by another carrier with high market share into that city, there's no precedent for that.
I hope they can make DTW-Asia (not Narita) non-stop work. This winds up being an implicit 747-400 replacement plan, too.

The crew rotation for this route in the coming few months is JFK-LHR-DTW-LHR-JFK...so wouldnt it be on the 767-400? or would the crew simply do 764s on certain segments and the 763 to/from DTW.
My ATL-FCO and return flights (BE) in October are changed from A333 to 764ER. Can't get to the seat maps to make sure Mrs. milesho and I are still seated together (seperate PNRs). SMS couldn't do it either. Guess the changes are still in progress. Lots of seats left so I am not worried.
