This one has tracked south by southwest and if it does develop, it probably will only be a threat to Central America.
As indufan may have noticed, those of us who might have something at risk here also spend some time following these developments but we do appreciate the interest shown out there in the flatlands.

It is pretty far south and the Coriolis effect will have some trouble making it spin....but that is assuming that it stays at the latitude that it is now. [/quote]

Sometimes it is easier to look at things from a distance.

TD-2 is alive but way out in the Atlantic. The official forecast is for some slow strengthening to tropical storm status with some chances of a hurricane near the end of the week.
There are a couple of other tropical waves with a small chance of development nearer the Lesser Antilles.

I think whoever beats me out of bed in the morning (sorry I am in PDT time zone), will find TD-2 has become a tropical storm. Still no worries as it is east of the middle of no where and significant strengthening is unlikely in the short term even though the long term track forecast is a little problematic. The farther south it tracks, the more chance of a stronger storm in the long term.

I tend to agree.
TD2 is still forecast to become a TS in the next day or so but is tending more northerly as monitor suggests and doesn't look like much will come of it.
Another MassiveHonker™ is leaving the coast of Africa and will likely become TD3 in the next day or two.
