There's a Voodoo Priestess not far from MIA who has an excellent track record.
Bring her 4 live chickens, 2 bottles of rum and 3 cigars and the answer to the universe can be yours.
That's where they'll go this weekend.
Oh, I'm still in group #1
The Voodoo Priestess in MIA is on an AA mileage run this weekend to the Caribbean because of the Double EQM promotion. Bummer for the DL people.
Programs: DL PM, RW, CRC. Platinum and Gold are ok, but I prefer Limestone and Marble.

No good. TSA confiscated the magic 8 Ball. It contains more than 3 oz of liquid. And the pointer on the Ouija board is a sharpened metal object, usable as a weapon, so the person carrying that got arrested.
So please don't expect such logic in the decisions from any airline.

Plus the ability to tell the future would make the TSA obsolete.
The real ? is how many people who would normally fly DL will fly AA to get the 2x EQM or even 3X Transcon from BOS or 50k bonus miles to LHR?
I will buy 100% of my tickets for the remainder of the year with CO and fly from EWR instead of JFK. But if DL jumps on board, they get my business, and any of my CO flights will go to DL credit until they officially are gone from ST.
Will someone correct me if im wrong though, couldn't one just do a status match over to UA (or AA for that matter...hell, now even CO for that matter) and enjoy flying under this promo with status already, and, essentially, just be building up a nice cushion? (Or, does UA only allow a High status-Mid Status match, in which case the DEQM promo they are running would allow one to secure 1k?)
UA matches to 1P tops (DL's Gold); CO matches Plat to Plat.
With the Double EQM promo, I'd rather not burn a once-in-a-lifetime comp to either airline. I'm 3P on UA already, so I can at least sit in E+ while earning my way to status. DEQMs wouldn't do much for me on UA - it'd be easier for me (living in MSP) to qualify for status by segments. On CO, until late October, I'd still be DL Platinum, so I would think I could at least get preboarding still, and possibly exit rows. CO has a lot of Jungle Jets into MSP (3/6 MSP-IAH are Jungle Jets, 4/6 MSP-EWR are Jungle Jets, 4/4 MSP-CLE are Jungle Jets), so the chance of an upgrade is slim (even on the mainline flights, 4 of the 5 are on 737-500s with 8F, 1 is on a 737-700 with 12F).
AA is the other possibility. I'd be a nobody on them for a while (till I cross 30 segments), but they have much that UA offers me: can make ExPlat by 100 segments, better service from MSP (15 mainline flights, most to DFW/ORD), plus 5 Jungle Jets to STL (a manageable flight for a Jungle Jet). ExPlats get unlimited upgrades, 8 of the best SWUs out there, etc.
Continental has now joined in on the DEQM parade. DL is the only major carrier not currently offering it. I say we'll see it by Monday at the latest.
Fun....DL needs to be the carrier that will stand out and offer triple MQM. I'm pretty sure that people planning to fly either UA, CO, US, AA that have a SKM account and that airlines FFP, 9 out of 10 people will switch to DL just for easier qualifying status.
If DL does a double/triple MQM, what will be the dates for travel? Book by (date), travel by (date), blackout dates, etc.

No way DL will do triple EQMs - they'll just match. The airline industry is very predictable - everyone just matches each other's crazy promo; not go on top of it. Plus, triple EQMs would vastly inflate the elite ranks, which would cause many of us to leave the airline due to many elite-lites making status. It's just not that hard to fly 25,000 miles over 3 months. Sorry, but taking 2 trips to Europe on a discount ticket over three months should not get you Platinum - making Platinum for $1000 would be a huge value degradation for the program, and if DL's just gonna hand out Platinum status like that, then I (and many others) will most likely switch to the other airlines where everyone isn't Platinum (or at least elite). If everyone's elite, then what's the purpose of being elite?
As for people switching, it's not that cut and dry. Each airline has its unique selling points. For many, it's nonstop flights. Some UA flyers won't leave UA simply because they have E+. Some like CO's first class product, which is arguably the best domestic F product of any domestic carrier. For some, it's about connectivity - one airline might have 1-2 flights a day into that airport, while another has 8-9 flights.
And if/when DL matches, it will undoubtedly be for travel by June 15 (just like everyone else), for flights only on Delta/Northwest metal (no codeshares with other airlines, just like everyone else). The only question is do they follow the US/UA/AA logic of counting only newly-booked travel, or the CO method of including existing travel.
...then I (and many others) will most likely switch to the other airlines where everyone isn't Platinum (or at least elite). If everyone's elite, then what's the purpose of being elite?
But if everyone else is offering double EQMs as well, aren't you just jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire?

I'm saying compared to Triple EQMs. If everyone's offering Double MQM, then it dilutes it for everyone. But if it were Triple EQMs, then Delta's elite status becomes even more diluted compared to the others.

With the size of the combined carrier's elites plus all the mileage bonuses already out there for SkyMiles members, I think any EQM promotion would hardly make a noticeable ripple in any devaluation of elite benefits. Of course, that's just IMHO.

After several beers and one hard cider, I have given this a lot of thought and if DL does not match the double MQM promo, I am going to be very, very sad.
