Based on your upgrade numbers, I would say give AA your business as you are doing significantly better there.

If anything, I may move some leisure travel from my planned dates to the promo period. My business travel will take place regardless. I would however consider a trip to BOM.

I think CO may have to, but Delta has so many elites at the moment why bother.

Yes, I think the merger has made my DL upgrades a thing of the past. Too many PL fliers on my flights.

There is two ways for me to answer your question:

MQM promo ===== ME === My family of 5
Double ========= 4 ==== 20
Triple ========== 8 ==== 40

You see if they did a triple MQM it would be worth it for me to take the whole family on some MR's for status. Now if you really want me to waste some money, just offer me triple miles and mqm's. We will fly to Singapore and some other far away lands just for the miles.

Yes, we are certifiable MR nuts.

United is matching AA. I have to think DL will do the same.

1. 2x MQM bonus: 0
2. 3x MQM bonus: 2 transcons

I'm very close to MM.

The transcons would have to be places I like to visit, would have to be for a few days, which I can handle. I won't spend the money doing 24-hr. MR's.

If DL does nothing, it will get 80% of my flights over the promo and rest of the year.
If DL does 2X MQMs, it will still get 80% of my business over the prmotion period and 50% of my business over the rest of the year.
If DL does 3X MQMs it will get very little of my business over the year.

If DL does nothing, it will continue to get scraps from me at most and will lose some business to those with such promotions.

If DL does 2x, it will hold onto the scraps it would have gotten anyway but not a penny more in total.

If DL does 3x, then DL will be back in the running.

This is all the consequence of DL's serious devaluation of the value of a SkyMile redeemed for award travel.

So let's see what DL tries to (not) do now.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up!

What's Continental got to do, got to do, got to do, with this particular thread? Just askin'.

When three of DL's four or five biggest competitors are in on this kind of promotion, DL's going to have a hard time staying out much longer from running some kind of such promotion too.

Poor Jeff Robertson -- there goes his effort to fight off "undesirable" Platinums, Golds and Silvers who supposedly cost DL more than they are worth to DL.
