need advice/help with miles swap/expired
I swapped a former colleague 300k star alliance miles for his 300k delta skymiles. I was just told those 300k delta miles have expired. Yes it has been over two years and I do not know if he had any other activity to keep the miles current. How can I verify that they indeed expired? I have his address and I know one time when I put a reservation on hold using his skymiles (later cancelled) that the phone agent checked to see if he indeed had that many miles to redeem. I really just want to confirm they have indeed expired, and that would be a shame but at least I would know I am not being deceived. any comments or advice would be appreciated....

In order to find out for yourself, you would need his/her SkyMiles # and PIN. Agents will not provide any information over the phone without both items.
Now, if "he/she" were to call stating that "he/she" cannot remember "his/her" SkyMiles number, and have his/her pertinent info on hand, you may be able to swing it over the phone. Maybe. YMMV!
