Thanks DLRES - I called and go the ball rolling. Unfortunately, my WP account has a middle initial and my SM doesn't so I have to get that fixed before I can move the miles but I worked with a great res person who was extremely helpful. I'm hoping to have this worked out in the couple of days!!
Thanks for the info.
Geez! I just checked my WP account and it's missing my middle initial. Somehow I have 1,500 WP without ever having flown NW. I vaguely recall from 2-4 years ago an unrequested status comp based on hotel status somewhere. Maybe a promo of some sort afterwards for completing a survey? I will combine when it becomes official and my WP account grows a middle initial. You never know when you'll need those miles.

Most airline cards have a front loaded bonus for pretty low spend for new users, so I imagine I could rack some up some WP miles cheaply and have them combined into my SM account later this year . Anyone here familiar with NW's credit card offerings?
I've never had the NW card, as I've only used my WP account to accrue miles on random foreign airlines which wouldnt accure to my SM account.
I just got an invite yesterday. 20,000 miles for a $500 spend, IIRC. This is actually what alerted me to the fact that I had a WP balance at all. I did think it odd that someone was offering an afinity card for a program that I assumed was going bye-bye.

I did this last week without any problem. They will ask for a Confirmation number of the held reservation and I believe they will not yet let you tranfer MORE mileage than needed to cover the award tickets.
My Mileage was transferred within 1 - 2 days and then I went in and ticketed the awards. The process was a lot smoother than expected.

I have the opposite problem--my DL account has my middle initial while my NW account has my full middle name. Fortunately the address on the accounts is the same, which should be enough to tell the computers it is a match.
So, at the end of 2009 or at some time later in 2009, if someone has 37,500 DL MQM and 37,500 NW EQM these two will be combined to a 75,000 MQM total and the individual will be a DL Platinum?
Right now, I am platinum with both and the way my travels are going thus far in 2009 I can see where I will have miles with both airlines. I think that if the miles will be combined in 2009, there is no need to keep calling one airline or asking a GA to change the earning miles to DL or to NW. I am thinking, if I am flying DL, I will just earn the MQM and if I am flying NW, I will just earn the EQM and then combine them at some time in 2009.
Someone tell me if my thinking is not working correctly on this. It seems so simple and my pea brain is having difficulty understanding it...lol

Well it shouldn't be too long. Worldperks was completely raped yesterday, so there shouldn't be any arbitrage opportunities left. Fine time to allow transfers.

Theoretically you are correct but I would NEVER make such an assumption with all the changes taking place and with the recent track record of taking the worst of each program consistently in almost every single area.
If you want to be assured of PE status, bank 75K EQM/MQM in one program this year. No other 100% certain way.
