The DL 744 thread....

OK,

1. When will the first 744 get the DL paint?

2. Will it get leather?

3. When will DL F/A's get the training?

4. Where will it fly to?

5. When will the leases expire, because we all know that DL will shed them the minute they can...

6. Will 744 get AVOD?

7. When will we see them in ATL?

Thanks

p.s. Any way to chase the Worldjerks off the 744 so us DL Plat's can own the F seat?

p.p.s. 65 F seats on each one.. DTW to PVG starting in 2009... I am writing from Shanghai tonight and cannot wait to do this trip on a "Queen of the Sky"

DL 744 to be painted and re enter service by 12 Dec, according to this link/thread on Airliners.net

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/4206466/

I would be surprised if DL shed the 744 anytime soon. They need the Pacific capacity, and they dont' have metal coming in that fast. They would be fools to give up the capacity to Japan and China, not to mention NWs extensive Pacific network. It is one of the most important things NW brings to the marriage (IMHO).

Well.....there are quite a few "worldjerks" out here that will be in the hunt for your seats. The NW IT system will be bringing a little thing we call LTV (Long Term Value) rating. It will not be enough to just be Plat soon and there are many Worldjerks with 250-300 BIS miles per year and plenty of full Biz customers that just may dilute your chances. WE are now DL not "worldjerks"...howdy neighbor.

Who said that the NW upgrade system was going to be used over the DL system? For all we know, the current DL system that doesn't look at your annual spend for prioritizing upgrades could be used (and I'd be quite content with that happening).

Don't be surprised if that changes. Have you met DL yet?

It should be "we DL Plats", not "us DL Plat's"

If you plan to insult someone, at least learn your third-grade grammar and punctuation.

And the answer is no. Deal with it.

Don't know when leases expire, but 4 of the 16 744's are owned, not leased.

You could very well be right but I am sure DL will want the former Worldjerks (I can proudly count myself among that group) money as much as the current DL Members. The point is like it or not WE are all in the same pool now and the OP is clearly thinking that there will be some distinction between "us and them". The only distinction when the functional integration is complete will be $$ and miles.

Having said that I do think the system will be elite heavy and Silvers/Golds from both former programs will get the brunt of the devaluation. They *MAY* have to move to a LTV type system (or higher top tier EQM requirement) to sort out the high number of Plats

And why would they want to shed them? They are great birds, in very new condition, with fantastic range and load factors. I am partial to the 330's but LOVE seat 10B on the 744 (or 77B/J upstairs). Not sure I get the need to get rid of them.

I'm sure your comment was 'tongue in cheek". You need to edit the post to include a smiley face.
I find it ironic. I was just checking the NW forum. Many comments over the merger and how we'd soon be in the DL Forum. Many folks stated that it was a little more civilized over here. Then I see this comment in the 1st DL thread I've ever read.
Nice meeting you too

I don't believe in a "we" versus "them" attitude but at least the NW Platinums earned their status by actually flying. I wonder how many of DL's top levels are there via promos ? I've no idea and am not going to try and guess. And more power to those folks. However, it does add to the irony that at least one DL member thinks I'm somehow inferior because I'm a member of the best domestic FF Program

This is a valid issue -- Plat. via flying = $$ into the company pocket, so it is not unfair to be rewarded for that loyalty.

i think much of the silver/gold issue will be depending where/when you fly. Remember, prior to the merger CO/NW upgraded each other elites at the same time as their own. So it isn't completely new to the NW people. DL never upgraded other skyteam members.

All that said, with the merger, there will be more flight/routes to choose from. If you're out of a major hub, and on a discount ticket, to a major biz destination it isn't going to happen.

Go mid week, mid day, higher ticket, you're odds will go up.
