Man I'll have to go back and watch the video again for the hot guys. I did think the young dude with the frizzy hair and MP3 player in the previous safety video was cute.

Thanks for the info. I can see how an airbag deploying could somehow "catch" the older flap/latch mechanism and release the belt, which would be BAD.

However I'm a little confused when you say that due to the angle of the seat, they require a supplemental restraint system. While a supplemental restraing system is great, what does "required" mean? Required by the FAA, DOT, Gov't of the U.S.??

I ask because the layout/design has been around a LONG time on Virgin Atlantic and they don't have airbags. The exact same seat is on Air NZ and they don't have airbags. In fact isn't Delta's new seat the same as that used on Air Canada, and they don't have airbags?

However I've read the SQ DOES have airbags on their Business class seats, but those seats are face forward seats, not herringbone....

Please don't get me wrong, more protection is great, and better, and I applaud Delta for having air bags....just that saying they are "required" is a little confusing.

Thought the video was a nice refreshing take on a potentially mundane subject that we've all heard hundreds of times.

Congrats to DL for daring to be a little different. And personally, I love "Deltalina's" finger shaking.

Nice job!

Additionally, the entire video was made to evoke the images people are accustomed to seeing onboard.
I think the finger waggle is funny and the tooth sparkle elicits a little chuckle, but I don't "get" the holding the mic thing. Is it supposed to be funny that he would be holding a mic when obviously doing a video shoot? It just looks silly to me. Maybe if he said "Ahem...is this thing on?" or something like that it might be funny.

DeltaFreak, can you enlighten us, because I don't recognize the guy.

FWIW, the FA (collecting glasses) and FO at the end of the video (and perhaps the gleaming tooth guy) all look somewhat familiar to me - as if I have seen them on Delta flights.

In general, great video, good job Delta, DeltaFreak, DCI and everyone else involved in the video.

The finger swing for no smoking looks naughty. I like it!

If you go to Delta's YouTube channel they have videos for different cities that Delta serves and sparkle tooth guy is featured in the Salt Lake City video. He is cabin crew and is based in SLC.

Actually no, he is ATL based and is a language speaker, but does pick up flights out of SLC at times.

At the beginning of the video on Salt Lake City he says... "when we are home in Salt Lake City one of our favorite past times is...."

So I interpreted that as meaning they are based in SLC....guess I'm wrong.

I'm Jacob, the guy with the headphones in the video and also a Delta blogger.

I've really enjoyed reading this thread, lol. Thank you for the compliment.

Between the blog, our YouTube account, and FlyerTalk, I'm really impressed with how much interest there is in this video.

Chris, our product manager for in-flight entertainment is going to do a full writeup soon about the making of the video and the cast (and what they do here).

Warm regards,
Jacob Morris

Thanks for posting!

I notice that you quoted yngdiego question but didn't actually answer it!

Is Chris "DeltaFreak"? He had posted that the sound track would be available today on the blog...but I didn't see it this morning when I checked.... Look forward to the blog entry with all the info... For people who fly Delta a lot (going to CA tomorrow via ATL...so I FINALLY get to try the A Centerline CRC since it is closed on weekends when I'm usually flying through the ATL!) it is cool to know who the different people are since you did use Delta employees.

BTW you know there is a smallish thread on "airliners.net" about the video?

http://www.airliners.net/discussions....main/3854145/

If you aren't familiar with that website...it caters more to people who like the technical/engineering aspect of airplanes and air travel.

So for instance regarding the same Delta flight from ATL to LAX

Flyertalk person will know: What kind of plane, which is the best seat, what kind of food will be available, what movie/avod selection there is.

Airliners.net person will know: What kind of plane, when Delta bought it, when it got winglets, when it was/will be painted to the new livery. What route it will take and the affect of winds on the travel time and fuel consumption....

I watched the video again for about the 5th or 6th time....man, I still dig the finger wagging.

When is the exit-row girl going to post on FT...? Looking forward to the full write-up on the video...sounds like it's going to be very interesting!
