miles from eating at Hotel's restaurant (NOT skymiles dining)
Has anybody ever had skymiles posted to your account "merely through" eating/drinking at a Hotel's restaurant(**WITHOUT** an associated stay at that hotel or hotel family)? Here i'm referring to Hotel's like Hilton, Hyatt,Marriott etc......(NOT skymiles dining)
My Hilton Honors account has been set up to receive Hilton points and then the double dip action gives even more Hilton points. I cant figure out how to turn them into Delta miles in order to continue my trek towards 20 partners. A little help would be much appreciated........Thanks.
From memory (without calling up HHonors on my computer), you go into your profile after logging in, and change your earning preferences. Once you get to the screen, it is pretty obvious.
Without digging through past threads on the matter, does someone know what date triggers the miles/points postings for Hilton? For instance, if I check out on 3/14/08 with the "points and variable miles" selection and then check-in on 3/16 for another week, when is it safe to change my preference back to points+points for the 2nd week so that I get points+miles in the 1st week and points+points in the 2nd week?
HangingOver, log in & look for the tab/ page called My Way. Click to change Points & Points to Points & Fixed Miles (500 per stay,) unless U will spend so much that Points & Variable Miles works better ( 1 mile per $ IIRC.)
Thetechguy, nope. Only Starwood allows earning of points on a meal of a non-room guest. After paying, go to the front desk & give your *wood #.

That is what confused me about their site. I got the 200 bonus points for signing up, yet they show me as having 1 pending mile for my iTunes purchase and sent an email saying that 1 mile should post to Delta. The bonus points seem to not be being addressed.
I "earned" the 200 bonus points for signing up and making the first purchase as well - but the guy from shop4miles.com explained to me over the phone that they wait 30 days after making the purchase to credit your delta (or whatever) account, to ensure that the sale is finalized (i.e. you don't return the item). On top of this, the transfers don't happen until you earn 100 points (this of course is moot for the 200 pt signup bonus, but you still have to wait the 30 days...not sure what "Date" they will put on the transaction).

Thank you Brendan! That was very helpful :-) 'am wondering.... with Starwood, have you personally been able to do so OR know ppl who has been able to do so? Also, does it depend on whether you are Platinum/Gold or just Preferred Plus is good too?
what about the other hotels? You/ppl you know have tried in the past but it didnt work out?
TTG, I have personally done it at the 4P Ann Arbor, MI & 4P Fort Walton Beach, FL. If the receptionist at a *wood hotel refuses or doesn't know how to do it, fax your meal receipt to *wood. If your acct. is set up for direct deposit to DL or whatever airline, IIRC U will get only the actual 2 or 3 miles per $, not the minimum of 500 miles per stay (if it still even exists??)

I have been told by other programs flatly, 'We don't do that.'

Thank you Brendan. So that settles it that this is possible with Starwood. Have you used this during last year's 25K Delta promo?
OR anybody here knows if such an activity will count towards the Hotel-partner activity? I ask, since this will be a direct mile posting and not a points-transfer; and the T&C specifically says following names of each parent family the word *one stay among...*
I changed my HHonors earning choice, and am now all set to double dip w/ Hilton and Delta. The problem is that it doesnt look like I'll be staying at a Hilton property between now and March 15th. Is there a way that I can transfer Hilton points I have already earned to Delta miles?

I needed Hilton Honors points to be transferred to my United Mileage Plus account after I had already been credited HH points ( to reactivate my expired United Miles). The Hilton Honors rep was very helpful and did the transfer. I think if you call and are nice to them, they will do it for you too

Can you set up your SPG account online to directly deposit to DL or does on have to call SPG?
