Have I missed something, why on earth would anyone think an April 1 posting from E-miles would count as a partner?
Delta emailed me to this effect. Read the email here.
I also received last night the following from e-miles.

While our deposits happen on a quarterly basis, we will send Delta a separate file for this promotion with all Members who have activity during the time frame of 01/15 through 03/15. As long as you work offers, earn miles and remain active during that time period, you will appear on the list we send to Delta and the cumulative e-Miles offers will be considered as one transaction. Miles won’t be deposited at that time but your activity on e-Miles will count as one unique partner activity. Please let me know if my explanation is clear and if not, let me know.
Thanks for being an e-Miles Member

Regarding Ameriprise and auto quotes as a partner activity, I just tried to get one and the form indicates that I entered a "invalid skymiles number". Since I'm quite sure that I entered my correct number, I can only guess that I'm somehow flagged since I got a quote during last year's promotion. But then my wife's request went through without a problem and she used Ameriprise as a partner last year too. So, what gives? Anyone else have this problem?
I learned about this promotion just today, and after reading all the posts I came up with these notes for myself. Maybe they will help someone else. Corrections are welcome!

Posting #38, 1-12-08 says:
I made a list of the ones that seem best for me(and the least expensive):
SPG transfer
MR transfer
e-rewards redemption
Delta miles purchase
One skymilesshopping purchase-I'll buy a gift card to some place
One skymiles dine-I'll stop by a place and grab a drink with a friend
Posting #67, 1-13-08 says:
I think the easiest 3 are:
1 idine
1 shutterfly order ("buying a $1 worth of prints from Shutterfly", but see Postings #155, 188)
1 itunes purchase through skymilesmall (see Posting #166)
Posting #68 has complete Terms & Conditions, as of 1-13-08. (unofficial interpretations are at Posting #72 and Posting #111.) From the Delta T&C: "Miles earned for purchases using your domestic or international SkyMiles Credit Card count as one eligible activity."
Posting #69 says:
I'm probably going for:
1 Auto Insurance quote through Ameriprise
1 music purchase through skymilesshopping
1 idine
Posting #70 has a $1 pump to buy from Lather (but Lather may interfere with other partners, see Posting #41, and shipping for the pump to Texas is $7.27)
Posting #75, Celebrations book at 1800 FLOWERS may be cheap
Postings #76, 78, 80, join Budget's FastBreak free and get 1000 Delta miles + probable partner credit. Afterward, go to http://drive.budget.com/delta/signup.cfm to link your RapidRez number to your Delta Skymiles number and [hoped] get the 1000 miles, plus maybe 5000 miles after first 3-day rental, plus maybe 3000 miles for renting 3 days or more with coupon # MUAZ095, plus a discount using # U093300. (Must do at least the first part of this by 1-31-08) Ref: budget fastbreak offer and also Posting #132
Posting #93, Shop4Miles.com is one of about 60 "peer" partners. You only get credit for one.
Posting #99 has some good info.
Posting #142 shows one person's getting 11 partners in 72 hours, with more to come soon. (It may not be so easy for those who don't have twin daughters with birthday on Jan. 16)
Posting #149 Avoid using e-Miles (or not, see Posting #181)
Good luck everyone!

you put your number into refferal code field and left Skymiles number field blank. Easy to make a mistake since refferal code field only appears after you pick up how you were reffered.

Why is Delta doing this promotion?
I was thinking last night before bed.... why would DL want to give me all those bonus miles for using partners... what monetary gain is in it for them? After all, I am spending my money with the partners. The partners are purchasing miles from DL but who is actually paying for the bonus miles?.. the partners? Nah. DL is going to give me either 3, 6, 12, 20 or 25K miles, not the partners. So how do they benefit? Are they looking to drain the partners' accounts so the partners will have to buy more blocks of miles from them?
Any insider out their know how DL makes out on this promo? (Other than getting a bunch of FTers riled up. )

Posting #68 has complete Terms & Conditions, as of 1-13-08. (but Posting #72 is better, Posting #111 better still.) From the Delta T&C: "Miles earned for purchases using your domestic or international SkyMiles Credit Card count as one eligible activity."
. . .
Posting #93, avoid using Shop4Miles.com
Good luck everyone!
Middle_Seat -- that summary must have taken a long time to pull together given the length of this thread already. Thanks.
A couple of comments about the items I quoted above:
1. Posting #68 reflects the official T&C's from Delta's own website. They are unaltered. The other two postings you mention are various FlyerTalkers' interpretations of these T&C's. In fact, these two don't even agree to the number of unique partners.
2. Shop 4 Miles is one of 60+ partners that are lumped together for purposes of this promotion. My comment was not that Shop 4 Miles was a bad choice of a partner, but rather that if it was chosen, there would be no point in trying to earn another unique partner qualifying activity with any of the other 60+ partners.

I'm not a Delta insider, but I personally figured that partner transactions are very high profit for Delta, especially considering how hard it is to actually redeem SkyMiles, so it is in Delta's best interest to encourage us to use as many partners as possible. They limit it to one transaction per partner to force us to try many different partners that we likely wouldn't otherwise use.
only one SkyRewards partner (e.g., SkyMall, LATHER, Organic Bouquet, Vinesse, Great American Days, Samsonite and Java City) activity is allowed,
Since it's not listed, does that mean that Shutterfly is not considered a SkyRewards partner?

After 3 or 4 rounds of e-mails, a Delta CSR wrote me that Shutterfly was intentionally not included in this promotion at its request. I don't put much stock in the reason for its exclusion, but you might want to come up with another eligible partner other than Shutterfly.

However, Shutterfly is a SkyMiles Shopping option.

You are correct; I stand corrected.
Ignoring this promo for just a moment, why would anyone try to earn miles with Shutterfly going this convoluted way? You can earn 20 miles per $ spent at the moment if you go directly through the link under "Dining, Retail , & Other Partners" (10 miles per $ is the standard rate), but if you go through SkyMiles Shopping, you only earn 3 miles per $ spent.

I agree with you 100%! I thought it was pretty stupid, too. Wonder how they distinguish between the different links over to Shutterfly?

I'm guessing its the way the miles post to Delta. I know for a fact (from a recent purchase) that if you order the most direct way, the miles will post with a "Shutterfly" notation. I would bet that if you purchase through the SkyMiles Shopping link, they will post with a "SkyMilesShopping.com" notation.
That is why I think they made a mistake when they lumped Ameriprise Insurance with all these other miscellaneous partners. Ameriprise will not post as a "SkyMiles Incentives" partner unless something has changed since the last promo.

Thanks for that heads up. I transferred 1 SPG point to DL instead. Can't believe I can parlay that 1 point into 3k miles! Just crazy but cool!
