Delta's Security Checkpoint and Concourse at Orlando gets busier thanks to AirTran

AirTran have moved their Gates from Concourse 2 to Concourse 4, using the 90s Gates wing of this concourse. The DL ticket counter staff told me that since this has happened the outbound baggage handling system has gotten overwhelmed with bags and the DL security check point as well. They suggested that I use the SW checkpoint, from which you can also get to Airside 4 where DL and AirTran are, which I did as the DL checkpoint is now very busy, especially in the afternoon when Int'l flights are leaving Airside 4. Airside 4 is now a zoo at certain times of the day with the addition of AirTran to it.

From what I saw in the way of volume of bags at the TSA checked baggage screening points, IMHO you stand a good chance of your checked bags not getting on your flight unless you check in real early. Better still do not check bags at Orlando unless you have to.

Finally the TSA have changed again the way they handle Int'l arriving passengers on Airside 4 so that they do not have go through arriving TSA security on Airside 4. They seem to control both people movers at certain times of the day when Int'l Flights are arriving and are herding passengers here and there and of course, barking at them. Makes it a real pain at times to use the people movers.

Thought that this would be useful information for FTs.

I thought DL and FL had always been using the same security checkpoint (along with WN, B6, etc.) since Airside 2 and Airside 4 trains leave from roughly the same place.

Interesting that they're not having arriving passengers rescreen at TSA in Airside 4. What do they do; just rope off the exit station to the trains and make sure no one leaves the barricade? Also, I take it they'd be doing the same over at Airside 1.

Previously the FL and DL passengers were pseudo split by the entrance to the Hyatt hotel. Technically passengers going to both airsides could use either side of the TSA screening point, but most of the FL, SWA, B6 passengers didn't know that.

CLEAR eliminates the wait for me, but I'll miss the peacefulness of the 60-99 Airside I used to enjoy (except of course when Virgin had 4 inbound 747s parked in the 80 gates).

I think it is good question. FL is already being moved into DL airside. I couldn't tell you something. Because other checkpoint is getting more crowding with WN & B6 new airside gate 100-120. It would be reduce wait times when FL psasengers to get through security checkpoint. I think it is enough saving times to get busier entire time at MCO.

Also, there is something about TSA is already installed new inline baggage screening system at MCO or whatever. Do you think DL is different time. Do you think installed new baggage handling system? I haven't see all entire x-ray machines at ticket lobbies but, it was went downstairs new inline baggage screening system. What kind of security equipment is that?
