SaveSkyMiles Ad in CVG USA Today today

Page 8C

As long as donations keep coming in, ads, billboards and other reminders to Delta that we not upset with front line employees will appear all over the country.

We are/were loyal customers until Delta decided we are/were not!!

We plan to continue with our mission of making Delta more receptive to the needs of its loyal customers and that our employee and media “education” efforts will continue for the forseeable future.

Mikey1003, it was good to meet you in ATL last evening. Is there a link to this ad on Page 8C?

Do we have a numbers update? How much did this one cost? How much do we need for another one? Thanks...

It was also great meeting you.

Here is the link to the last ad....only thing that changed are the number of people who signed up and the total miles (remember, the mileage list is very DEvalued...many of us signed up 2 years ago and have not updated miles on SSM)

http://www.saveskymiles.com/images/Delta_Ad.pdf

You can also print and distribute the ad as you travel.

Here's why this ad is so disingenuous. The letter tries to make it seem that there is a connection between the SkyMiles cuts and the employee cuts. However, there is absolutely nothing to back this up.

In fact, a good case for the opposite could be made. Look at the employees at US, AA and UA. None of those airlines have made major changes in their FF programs (US tried but backed off). However, their employees have all fared far worse than DL employees with larger layoffs, larger paycuts and more draconian work rule changes. Yes DL employees have taken cuts, but compared to what is going on at those competitors, the DL employees are doing better.

If this letter wanted to be truly honest, it would be written as follows:

Dear DL Employees,

As air travelers today, we are paying 25-30% less for our tickets than we did just 3 years ago. However despite that fact, we expect to be given the exact same benefits today as we had 3 years ago. Even though we have no economic basis for our expectations, this is what we want.

In order to make this happen, we would like all the DL employees to take massive wage and work rule cuts (like the good people at US,UA and AA did) in order to subsidize our cheap flights.

We wish you well and continued safe travel.

Signed,

The 500 Delta Skymiles Members representing about 10 million miles flown

You're missing the point Conn - perhaps intentionally. Disgruntled SM members and DL front-line share misplaced loyalty and a distaste for Delta's disingenuous baloney. Most employees go above and beyond and before Delta chased us away with SGB and SM enhancements, most Medallions went out of their way to give Delta their business; often at extra cost and time. If Delta is in trouble financially, it is their own mismanagement that's to blame, not allowing a few very frequent flyers to move up from the back...

Oops.. sorry.. I misread, I thought we had run an entirely new ad

Just the previous ad, with new numbers. Ok, i'll shut up now..

Also, i'd be interested in any "human intelligence" we can get from DL folks, or fellow travellers on the ad. The earlier thread about the pilots and FA's cheering the ad on was great.. CVG is the second largest hub for DL, so I bet there is some interesting buzz - if you can dial into the signal

I wonder when DL will tell the USA that if they run any more adds for the SSM team, DL will not advertise in the USA Today?????

Well stated, ConnFlyer!
Most employees can easily see through this ad, and realize the motivation lying behind it.
The ever-mounting venom that fills this board speaks louder and more truthfully than any ad.
