I Get to Fly the Spirit of Delta Tomorrow in CVG!!!

Ok now I am TOTALLY excited about my 12 hours in CVG tomorrow!!!!

http://news.delta.com/article_displa...ticle_id=10096

Thanks to an awesome FT'er pointing out I read the info wrong on this (I had read it as being today in another article I read) and taking a chance calling to see if I could get in even though I am not media, I get to spend my time tomorrow at this ceremony and on the "circle flight" as CVG says goodbye to the Spirit of Delta. How amazingly cool is that.

Yeah yeah no big deal for many of you, but since none of this stuff ever makes it to BGM I am VERY excited.

And I hope to get to meet my FT angel who told me about this too *smile*

See, fate likes me (although with my track history lets hope it doesnt get mechanicalized *smile*)

Like I said, just a phone call, was a long shot, but called, told them about my layover, asked if I could get into the speech part and she was more than wonderful and put me on the list for the whole event (including the circle flight). Guess at one point (looking at the delta museum website) there was a contest to do this also. I only fell over all this accidently looking at the news page on DL about the new PM benefit. I read it (wrong) and moved on. Then one of our fellow FT'ers pointed out it was tomorrow and might be a good way to break up my long day seeing the plane. Took the info and ran with it and now I get to be on the plane tomorrow. How way cool!!! (yeah yeah all of you are in Atlanta are thinging, big thrill we see this plane all the time, but I find it way cool to be able to be part of this).

I am finding conflicting info on which paint scheme it has right now, have seen that it has the current red white and blue tail but also have read it has been returned to its original look. But will definitely try to get pictures.

This also answers my which CRC to hang out in. Will be in the term A crc for the morning if anyone wants to split a biscoff!!!!

Hey, think they are giving us Skymiles for this segment (JUST KIDDING)

I flew on it years ago on a ATL-MCO flight. The FA's made sure everyone knew they were flying on "their" a/c. Of course, this was in the 90's when things were much better.

Have to admit for as much as I propose children flying cargo (or at least stowed safely in the overhead bins) I am even excited about there being a bunch of rugrats on this flight.

I have become rather burned out on travel lately, and needed to something to remind me that flying is exciting and fun (and not a process to tolerate to get from point A to point B). This has done that for me (they best not cancel my flight to CVG tomorrow or they will have a seriously upset customer at BGM). And having kids that may never have flown before on the circle flight just makes it seem like it will be even more exciting.

I needed to be reminded how amazing it is that people can be hurled into the air in a metal tube and stay up there for hours!!!!!!! And why we do it all!

Biscoff therapy *smile*

How many miles will you get for a 1/2 hour 767 flight? ^

I know that during the good days, I was on "the Spirit" 3-4 times.

Enjoy your flight, better than a trip to the Casino!

Weirdly I have probably been on this plane at least a dozen times over the last 20 years on many different routes, including twice in January. Just one of those things.

This is VERY WAY COOL - good for you!

I found this relatively recent photo (less than 1 year old) on airliners.net - a pretty cool site if you haven't seen it yet.

And as far as credit for miles, at the very least it can't hurt to ask.

It is now painted in the livery it was delivered in - the original widget with special titles.
