Flight International claim MD90, 737-300 and 767-400 all look as though they are history. Pilot re-current training being part of the decision process. And with 2000 pilots eligable for early retirement, 767-300 and 777 operations may be disrupted.

Is there an easy way to tell an MD90 vs MD80? Spotting a 732 vs 73x is easy - just look at the puny engine.

I can see the 762 going before the 764. DL needs the range and capacity to serve FL and HI. I think I read the 732, 733, MD90 and MD11 (already grounded) are history.

Same way, the engines on the MD-90 are noticably "fatter" and shorter than those on the MD-88's.

MD-90 info ?

Airliners.net does not have a pic of the MD-90 FC cabin. I see on DL"s chart it has 12 FC seats. This is less than the MD-88.

1. Have these FC seats been refitted?
2. Where is the IFE located?
3. Due to less FC seats, is the FC cabin a bit more spacious?

Thx

Ive never been in FC on these planes, but according to seatguru.com:

2)The IFE Screens fold down from the ceiling in all classes. As for audio there are 12 channels.
3)Same Pitch, but the seat has 19.3" width vs 19.5" on the MD88. According to the seatmap the reason why there are 2 fewer seats is the addition of a closet in row 3.

The MD-90 First Class seats are the most comfortable domestic First Class airplane seats I've ever sat in. Coach, on the other hand, has the tightest pitch of any Delta mainline plane.

The F seats have the feeling of the Song or new MD-88 leather seats, as opposed to the crinkly old leather of the MD-88 or 757 First Class seats.

It's too bad Delta didn't buy more of these planes (very quiet engines as well).

These seats are very comfortable... DL has refitted a few of these planes with the new interior; however, they don't have the lighter colored seat inserts like the MD-88. I don't think the pitch is any more than the MD-88, but it just feels better. I slept like a baby in 3B on my last SLC-CVG red-eye.

I agree that the seats are more comfortable. At least these planes have the 12 channel audio for your music listening pleasure (compared to the MD88, which has none) IIRC, audio jacks are on the opposite armrest of the audio controls. As I am not tall of stature, there's plenty of room for me.

Boeing Douglas MD-90 Seating Question

I booked myself into seat 26B SNA-SLC. It is the only seat in that row so I thought it might be nice not to have any seat mates. does ayone have any experience with that seat? I checked with Seatguru.com of course and there are o negatives as far as I can tell.

I am also in 25A for SLC-LAS since there is no seat behind me and 26B was already taken. Any thoughts on this one as well?

Does anyone else question their sanity over spending all this time trying to find the perfect seat?

I sat in that seat last month and it dosen't have much extra legroom, but, it is nice to have your own row.

No extra legroom for sure. Also may have no/limited recline due to row behind is also considered exit row.

You would want 27 A or E and anything in 28. 26 does not look like it has much extra leg room.

MD-90 seat 26B

Simply question- is seat 26B on an MD-90 worth the privacy vs. the limited recline and 1" less leg room? (short flight LAS-SLC) Thanks
